Whiskey, Curling, And A Plot Hole

What do a sneaky T. rex, a furious curling debate, and a sherry-finished bourbon have in common? They all say something about what we notice, what we value, and what we pour when the mics go hot. We kick things off with Winter Olympics highs and heartbreaks—stone-cold faces at silver, a wild bobsled mishap, and the kind of curling controversy that makes you rethink how rules get enforced when no review exists. Sports drama turns out to be a perfect runway to talk about taste, memory, and why some moments stick harder than others.
From there, we open two bottles that punch above their weight. Redemption Weeded Bourbon shows off a soft, approachable profile with winter wheat smoothing the corners. Legent, a Kentucky straight bourbon partially finished in wine and sherry casks, brings layered red fruit, subtle prune, and a long, elegant finish that fans of Basil Hayden Dark Rye will recognize. We compare notes, play with ice, and figure out when each bottle earns a permanent spot on the shelf. Along the way, we debate whether big, oily American profiles have ruined us for lighter Irish styles—or whether triple-cask Irish still holds a seat at the table when you want honeyed grain and easy conversation.
Then we share a Michigan insider tip that will change how you shop. Thanks to a state-approved, location-specific price reduction process, some stores can legally mark select bottles down by 50% for a short window—if they publicly post the list and accept an ordering ban. Translation: real deals on real bottles, not just flavored outliers. We explain how to find the posted sheet in the aisle, why stock counts matter, and how to build a smarter home bar by grabbing the right clearance at the right time.
If you love Olympic storylines, blind tasting war stories, and practical bourbon hunting strategy, you’ll feel right at home here. Pour something good, hit play, then tell us what you found on your local clearance list. And if you’re enjoying the show, follow, share with a friend, and drop a review—your notes shape what we open next.

Welcome, Banter, And Jurassic Park Riddle
SPEAKER_04We're gonna drink a fine whiskey and smoke a really fine cigar.
Jamie FlanaganIt is time for Happy Hour, the Man Cave Happy Hour, Whiskey, Cigar, Spirits, the stories that go along with it. I am Jamie Flanagan.
Matt FoxThis gentleman to my left, and we're in our original positions. Oh, yeah, nice. His name is August. Last name of Gitchlag. Wow, you could watch him out. I did well. I did well.
August GitshlagDid a great job. You know who did that great job? The guy that's sitting next to me, but I can introduce him because I gotta go across, man.
SPEAKER_02And then the other guy who just heard before August is Matt Fox. Hi, I mean we did it right.
Jamie FlanaganFoxy Loxy.
SPEAKER_02Matt Hole and One Fox.
Matt FoxThat was that's old news. So welcome to the year yet. Yeah. That was not my nickname in college, by the way.
Jamie FlanaganJurassic Podcast. Everybody, welcome to it. Jurassic. We're not that old. So no, you said we didn't think we'd get back to it.
Matt FoxNo, I had a question, a legitimate question. Yeah, okay.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, right before the mic cracked, you had a question.
Matt FoxGo ahead, Matt. Shoot. At the end of Jurassic Park, the first movie, how did the Tyrannosaurus Rex sneak into the museum? Without being heard. It was in the plot.
Jamie FlanaganThose are the raptors, though. He's got nails too.
Matt FoxHe does, but he when you were introduced to the to the specimen, the the dinosaur, the the ground shook. Right? And the water ripples. Yeah. How did the how did they not hear him coming?
Jamie FlanaganOh good, good. I don't care. There was so much anecdote's movie.
SPEAKER_02Chaos.
August GitshlagLeave my childhood out of your bullshit.
SPEAKER_02If we're gonna bring up plot holes, we will be here all night. Is that your nickname company?
Jamie FlanaganThere is so much other chaos. He slipped in during the chaos.
Matt FoxAll right, fair enough. All right, fair enough.
August GitshlagAll right.
Matt FoxI'll buy that.
August GitshlagGentlemen, I already missed the damn Olympics. Uh I enjoyed ready. I enjoyed the Olympics. Got the hat on because then it's like the last day I can like get away with wearing my Olympic hat for you can wear that year round. You can, you can. I got a little bit more, a little more out of it.
Winter Olympics Highs And Heartbreaks
Matt FoxTwo years, you get the you get the summer Olympics. Yeah. And then in a short four years, you know, you'll have them back.
SPEAKER_02Did you catch but what we are and what we are right on top of is baseball season. Hey, yeah.
August GitshlagYeah, the world baseball classic and the world cup. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, like, pitchers and catchers are reported.
August GitshlagOh, yeah, they're already there. Yep. See, Scooba's only going to pitch one game in the world baseball classic. He said he'll pitch one game, then he's going back to Lakeland. I don't like that. Why? You commit to this shit, you stick with it. America. Okay. Well, it's the worst that could happen. You lose your two front teeth.
Matt FoxWell, yeah.
August GitshlagAnd you'd end up in rotator cuff surgery. Yeah, I want him out there with the Americans. All right.
Jamie FlanaganSo, yeah, but the uh the Olympics, I I was being sassy. I'm like, hey, let's uh let's toast to the let's get some Canadian whiskey and toast. Toast oh toast the Canadians? The uh the the Olympics. It was a good game.
August GitshlagIt was it was a good tournament on for both the men and the women.
Jamie FlanaganNot gonna lie, I like that a Canadian jersey. I kind of want one of those. The red and black one?
August GitshlagThe red and black one is kind of I'd kind of not like them, but everyone else around me thought they were great. Oh, I like I like that. I thought that their outfits coming in were terrible. Yeah, the Canadians I didn't like it at all. And I but I thought that their like snowboard gear, that burgundy that they wore was killer. They had a great look on the on the on the athletes.
SPEAKER_02But speaking of, did you see the photo of Sydney Crosby after the game?
August GitshlagNo. Oh, just was he crying? Oh my god, he suited up just for the handshake because he didn't play. Right.
SPEAKER_02Um he was just well, he's gotten into the face in their game before.
Jamie FlanaganWell, and as they were getting their medals, there wasn't a single one of them that cracked even a half of a smile. They win a silver medal in the Olympics. Yeah, but it's kind of like losing the Stanley Cup. It's like can you imagine if you lost the Stanley Cup and you gotta stand out there while they come back and give you a stuffed animal? Yeah, I know.
August GitshlagHere's a plushy, here's a beanie baby. I actually bet ten dollars that Canada was gonna win the bronze medal. Ooh, I thought that they were gonna lose a semi, either to Finland or Sweden. Yeah, and that was gonna be the upset of the tournament. And they should have because Finland they had two calls that went their way against Finland with that goalie interference and the offsides that got them in the last two minutes of that Finland game that they were down 2-0 in. Right. So they kind of got by. They skated by, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganSo the the the hockey was good. The hockey was uh men's and women's was very entertaining to watch. All curling was good. All the way the curling was crazy.
SPEAKER_02Curling was crazy, man. So now that was the reason cheating.
Jamie FlanaganThat was that's why they lost in hockey, is because they were cheating like monsters in curling. How do you cheat karma karma?
SPEAKER_02You finger bang your rock, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You finger the rock.
Jamie FlanaganOnce they let go of the handle, yeah, and they twist it. They know once you let go of the handle, you can't touch and you can't touch the granite with the finger on the side of the granite, Drew.
August GitshlagAnd the Swedes caught him and he cussed out the Swede like he was doing something wrong. And there's no review, there's no we gotta get we gotta get officials on the hog line now.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, yeah, yeah. But they showed the video and he was like to 100%.
August GitshlagRemember your day as a judge in the hog line? He was he what was he doing to the granite? It was flicking. Yeah, finger banging as rock. I got the bell.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, fair play.
August GitshlagAll right, so but uh I was looking at how many medals each kind of like they list the sport and then it lists like all the the flags, the gold medals. There's like 20 freestyle skiing events. Yeah, what the hell did they do in the Olympics in the 70s and 80s? Yeah, all these X game sports, which are very, very watchable, yeah, much more watchable than the speed skating, even though they added all the short track, which is great. Right. It's like were there only 12 events, and then that was it? Some downhill, some cross country, some figure skating, some speed skating, and then you go home. Yeah, I mean, what yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganSo the US took the gold in the combined or the team aerial, which is the the the the I did not, I still have that left on my peacock list of the team aerial.
August GitshlagYes, I know we won, but I you know, I yeah, yeah, I had that to watch. I was trying to watch the half pipe final while I was dozing off, and that just started holding my breath that people are gonna crash. I'm like, no, you gotta nail it. Nail your double fake corner with a pad of butter.
Matt FoxIsn't that the reason why most people watch that? Is so to watch people agony of defeat.
Curling Controversy And Rule Talk
August GitshlagWell, yeah. I mean that's why you watch the Summer Olympics, the big half pipe with the skateboards, people's shoes fly off, you know. You hit the ground so hard.
Jamie FlanaganSo I won't I won't spoil, I won't spoil the uh aerial team. Well, you knew that already, but just what happens to the team that was trying to come in second. Oh well, there's a the bobsledding suicide. Oh that bobsledding.
SPEAKER_02I watched the bobsled fell off except for the one guy. Did you see that?
August GitshlagI did, I did, yeah.
SPEAKER_02How do you follow? He soloed all the way down and then had to shimmy into the back to break at the end.
Matt FoxOh my gosh. Yeah, yeah, they just went up too high on the wall and just tipped over. Dumped his cargo.
SPEAKER_02No, no, they were they they were getting on, they were running to get in. Oh, Jesus. And one of the guys tripped and just caused a chain reaction. Only the front guy got in.
August GitshlagI didn't remember what kind of, I just saw a headline of it. Uh yeah, after what it's wild to watch. It wasn't the Jamaican team, was it?
SPEAKER_02No, uh I don't remember, I don't remember what disqualify them. But all these guys are like sliding down on their on their butts and stomachs, and that sled's gone, man. That guy's by himself, right? It's funny.
Matt FoxSo the what really opened up the Olympics, and everyone like, oh my gosh, this is like changes everything was Lindsey Vaughn crashing in the for in the in the final round.
August GitshlagUnfortunately, the headline was Lindsay Vaughn crashes, Breezy Johnson wins gold. Yeah, instead of Breezy Johnson wins downhill gold. Right, right. It was Lindsey Vaughn crashes, Breezy Johnson wins Olympic gold. And it couldn't be written any other way, right? Because that was the story, yeah, right.
Matt FoxBut you know, she's like eight surgeries later, you know.
August GitshlagWell, then Michaela Schifflin crap in the bed in the combined on her side of the goals. I watched her gold run. And then she wins the gold by like three minutes.
Matt FoxYeah, it was like a margin of one and a half seconds. It was the largest margin.
August GitshlagHow much better she was than everybody else? Oh, yeah. She was she was on the fire. I couldn't do it in the combined, you know. She was on fire. Schemo. Did you watch the people running up the mountain? Like they ski up, they they cross-country ski up, take the skis off, throw them on their back, run up these stairs, then they have to take the put the skis back on, take it up. No, then they have to ski mountaineering. It's called ski mo. They gotta take the the little sleeves off their skis and then ski back down. So you gotta run up the mountain, then ski back down the mountain. Sounds terrible.
SPEAKER_02Wait, wait, you're you're they're skiing back down the mountain?
August GitshlagThey gotta run up the ski on the stage. I'm exhausted. So they there's a lot of them are were just listening to it. The guys that the people that won were like from Spain and like Belgium, they're people that like they're converted bicycle racers and mountain climber guys. Okay, and they literally run they they ski up the hill with the scissors.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but cross country skis are so different than downhill skis.
August GitshlagAnd then they take the skis off and they put them in a loop in their back and then they run up these steps. Oh my god, and they gotta run up all you know, and then they gotta put them back on, take the sleeves off, put them in a fanny pack in front of them, and they tuck it all away, zip it, and then they can go down the hill.
Matt FoxThere's there's a and they race. There's something people say you work smarter, not harder. You never ski uphill. That's like the worst idea ever.
August GitshlagThis is based on like well, I guess they've been doing this in Europe. It's like based on original like mountaineering war stuff, like climbing the mountain, and like you know, whatever the mountain core was in World War II. The army was heavily advertising during that. Like we did this during the war. We skied up the mountain and came down and got the Germans on the other side, you know.
SPEAKER_02It just seems like a cheese wheel event. Sounds like a Richard Bachman story called The Long Walk.
August GitshlagOh yeah. We got an intellectual here. Richard Bachman.
SPEAKER_02It's not exactly highly. Richard Bachman is fucking Stephen K.
Matt FoxRight.
Jamie FlanaganUh I missed that one. Yeah, it was the last couple days that was on.
How Did Winter Sports Multiply
August GitshlagI missed the opening and closing ceremonies, too. Okay, so the closing ceremonies. What was I gonna say about it? Oh, then you missed the introduction to LA. Because they always do a little thing for the next election. Did any of you watch it? No. No, I missed it. I wasn't on Michael Hudson. Kate Hudson singing California Dreaming. What? And uh a montage of LA while she's singing it. I'll take Kate Hudson singing California Dream. Yeah, and it's a it's a her own, it's not like it's like a it's definitely an American Idol type interpretation. It's not like trying to be Mamas and the Papas. Sure. But yeah, yeah, it's hard to beat that.
SPEAKER_02I it's hard to redo that song and make it any better. That's what I'm saying.
Matt FoxThat's for the Summer Olympics though, right? Yeah, Summer Olympics in two years. Okay.
August GitshlagWant to watch Kate Hudson do anything, really. I'll watch her do everything. I'll watch almost famous over the city.
Matt FoxI was just gonna say, I just freeze frame like that two seconds.
August GitshlagYeah, penny lane, penny lane.
Matt FoxI got catching up to do.
August GitshlagI'm 12. All right. The musical acts were different because like it was diplo and major laser was like the entertainment act after the after they're all done, and they're like the ceremonies are now closed. And the bronze was like, now it's time to party, and out comes Major Laser. Fire a gun, we need somebody. Lean on and the six athletes that are left are dancing around in the crowd.
Matt FoxAnd I think it's not an appropriate song.
August GitshlagI did a little bit of dip lo and then I kind of dipped. Yeah, that's about as far as I made it. Yeah, but uh it's always artsy fartsy. Yeah, I still think the French killed it with the outfits. They had the best jackets, the best you know, outfits. The Germans and their ponchos are pretty bad. America's just a straight up polo catalog, and that's fine. I don't care, it's always been the same. Well, it was good. It's uh it's I missed the cowboy hats from years ago. They used to make them wear cowboy hats in the way, yeah. I do remember that.
Jamie FlanaganAmerica.
SPEAKER_02I know it's gotta be a couple of Olympics ago at least, but sidebar muse the band. They they did the the the song for that Olympics theme song. It was probably then Salt Lake City or something. But uh but the United States did, but but our broadcast didn't show it when they when they did their song live, and it was like, come on, people.
August GitshlagI still think that the biggest surprise of the entire Olympics was thawing out Mariah Carey for the opener. Uh and she was still half frozen because her face didn't move, her body didn't move as she was singing. It was so weird. That was that was a robot. It might have been, it might have been an AI Mariah. Yeah, AI Mariah. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02They're really realistic now.
August GitshlagYeah, I know. She's like something out of Westworld. Hey, Westworld, want to open up the Olympics? Yeah, sure. Isaac Asimov reference. There you go. I wish they would do anything. I read a book. Hey, I read a book too, pal. Good job, man. I know how to read.
Matt FoxReadings for squares. Man, but it's it was a good Olympics overall. Yes, there were controversies, yes, there was cheating, yes, there were heartbreaks, but yes, there were some absolute golden moments. Dylan Larkin, Red Wings captain, getting his gold medal. Yeah, all of Michigan.
August GitshlagThe four guys, there's so many four on the ice when we won the gold medal. We're all from Michigan, all Michigan ties. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganThe goalie's commerce, I think.
August GitshlagAnd then Larkin.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, yeah.
Matt FoxYeah, it was that it was really cool to see.
Bobsled Spills And Headline Framing
Jamie FlanaganYeah. USA. Detroit. Indeed. Yeah, anyhow. But it's good, it's good stuff. What uh what else were we thinking about today? We were talking about uh hunting, right?
Matt FoxYes, August, you uh posted a a short man cave video and you found some interesting finds at your local mire. We had we have talked about this in passing.
August GitshlagLike, how can they get away with that?
Jamie FlanaganWell, because Michigan has very strict laws, yeah, minimums, right? Yeah, yeah, the MSRP, the or whatever it is, right? So you can state retail price, yeah.
August GitshlagIt's all it's all regulated by the state because we have that tier system or whatever. Yeah, yeah. So you know, I picked up a a cheap bottle of like uh bullet tenure something once at that on the corner at Kroger. I'm like, how can they legally do this? I'm grabbing it before someone doesn't, you know, yeah, realize they made a mistake, right? Yeah, some kid just put a tag on and ran. So like I said I mentioned in that little video that a guy the night that we were doing milk punch at Coonin said, Hey, go to Meyer, they're dumping a couple of uh bourbons on their on their half-off list. I'm like, can't be half off. I went in there and sure as shit, there's these two, and I did a little video about it. So I didn't understand how they can get away with it. So today at lunch, I go into the mire by me, my my my office, and I'm looking at all the stuff on clearances, the non-alcoholic whiskies. I'm like, okay, and I'm kind of walking down and I see like a I don't know even a little mouth.
Matt FoxThat was an oxymoron you just said, a non-alcoholic whiskey.
August GitshlagYeah, I know it's whiskey alternatives. There, there's a whole shelf of them now, or whatever. I think they can all just go to fuck, but whatever. Um, I mean, I get it. If you want to if you want to enjoy it, has anybody tried that? I've tried some, not anything recently. Years ago, I've tried. I've not tried anything. It's been about five, six years since I've tried them, and yeah, I just didn't.
Jamie FlanaganYou know, we got all our little saints though. Mushroom fairy mushroom fairy comes.
Ski Mountaineering And War Roots
August GitshlagAnyway, I was late for that. Uh so I'm looking around, I'm like, I don't see anything with any, I just I know the distinctive little tag, the little clearance tag. Sure, yeah, yeah. So I don't see any. And I walk back to the non-alcoholic stuff and I see this little form that's like clipped to the to the rack, and it's a list of reduced priced liquor at this location. And it explains the whole thing. It's like you can apply to have it reduced because you but you have to not carry it for one year, you have to tell how many bottles you have, it's restricted to one location. So basically, if you're sitting on stuff that's not selling and you have just a limited number of them left, you can apply to the state for a reduction, a price reduction, temporary uh prior production for that specific spirit. Right. At that specific location, at that specific location, and it's a it's for three months. So it went from January to April, and I took a picture of the list. I should have taken a bigger, bigger picture of it so we could read the rest of it. Yeah, but at this and then I realized later on that this was page two because this was only 17 through 32. There was a first page that had the first 16 uh that were on the list, but I didn't, you know, I wasn't there flipping, I was just like, Am I supposed to have this? What is this? Is this left out here? I didn't really get it until I went to my office and started and I play around on uh on the Lara site anyway because we're liquor licensing in the city. So I went in there and I'm trying to I'm trying to get the application for this and see how it works. Yeah, so it's like things that you only have a few that you're not gonna carry against. So, like, here's what's on the list for this specific Meyer, and it's exactly half up. Like it was uh the current minimum is$19.99, the markdown price is$9.99. They're all 50% discounts. It was American-born moon apple pie. Okay, then there's on the rocks my tie, old smoky cookie dough whiskey was marked from 21 to 11. I might try that. A whole bunch of new Amsterdams, New Amsterdam, tangerine, raspberry, pineapple, London dry. It's all the flavored stuff. Yeah, Malibu Peach was the only thing I saw that was there. And they only have a few bottles. How many bottles do you have on hand? It tells you how many they had when they applied, and when they're gone, they're gone, and you can't order that spirit for at least a year. Oh, interesting. And this stuff, and then I'm sure you have to tell them the number of bottles because then you can't say, Oh, I got I'm sitting on 20 cases of buffalo trace. I'll go a year without ordering it and sell it for half price, and no one will ever go to Kroger, and that's not even that. You just keep people coming into your store just to get that and then buy all the other groceries, and it's all we're all making money because I got the price reduction and all that. So, yeah, it's an interesting list. It's like Campari, Negroni, Absolute Raspberry Lemonade, Cucumber Jalapeno 1800. Okay, was on the list. That was probably the most the most expensive one on there is this uh Addictivo Reposado, which was a$54.99, was selling for$27.49. And I did not see it either. Yeah, but this list goes, it was posted and there's an ordering ban. The ordering ban for this product's in this list form expires January 15th, 2027. Okay, that's when they can order it again.
Matt FoxYep, and it'll take them so much, so much longer to get it back in stock.
August GitshlagOh yes. So January 15th and to April 15th is when they can sell it at the end date of the price reduction. Then they have to go back to putting it on their regular price list. Yeah, they only get this couple months to do it, so I can I would go back to that one on like you know, middle April and see what the next list is looking like. So these two at the Meyer store that I was at were on sale, and I, you know, I did cheat a little bit because I was talking about it to another friend. Like, how can he get away with this? And that that that vein. And I showed him a picture of this bottle, and I was at House Bayou in Ferndale. Okay, I love that. And Ryan's like, we have that here. He's a bartender there, we're just sitting there having a cocktail. Like, we have that here, it's really good. We got a couple guys that keep drinking it. So this one is, and I gotta put the I think Spencer had some of the Legion.
Jamie FlanaganI think I had uh Legion at Spencer and Jennifer.
August GitshlagThat makes sense. That makes sense. Legion Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, partially finished in wine and sherry casks. Oh, I already know I'm gonna like it because it's gonna remind me of the Basil Hayden. Right, yeah, dark rye. Uh-huh. So I don't know if we want to try this one first or this lighter one. Yeah, this redemption weeded bourbon. I don't remember if we've screwed around with a weeded bourbon here.
Matt FoxWe have with the weller, yeah, because that's weeded.
August GitshlagIt says a blend of 51% corn, 45% winter wheat, and 4% malted barley, aged in new charred oak barrels. This is 96 proof, and it has a batch number on it and everything.
Matt FoxWhat's the largent? What's the proof on the largent?
August GitshlagThe largent 47.
Matt FoxSo they're about the same. Yeah.
August Gitshlag94. Yeah.
Matt FoxAll right.
August GitshlagSo let's go lighter to darker, huh? Okay. That's the right way to go. And again, I got both these bottles for$24.99 and it was their half off price. Okay.
Matt FoxSo, yeah, if you're on a budget, that's uh well, not even that.
August GitshlagI think it's just worth, you know, if you want to build, you want to build your collection, you want to get something else on the shelf.
SPEAKER_02Well, maybe maybe something that you wouldn't buy normally, but you're like, I'll try this.
August GitshlagYeah, why would I grab redemption weeded bourbon off the shelf at 60 bucks? It's next to the basil Hayden I already know. Yeah, right. Right? So that's you know, yeah, I think this is a good uh reason to do such.
Matt FoxAre you bartending, August? I guess so.
August GitshlagThank you.
Matt FoxTake one down, pass it around.
August GitshlagUh, sponsor uh is uh neater stir, yeah. Did I give you too much there, Mr. Fox? No, no, no. I did not use a jigger on this one. We got the we got the you want to trade me? We got the baby. All right, so this is what a weeded bourbon taste smells like.
Matt FoxIt's very reminiscent of Weller.
SPEAKER_02It's not big on the nose.
August GitshlagYeah, not big on the nose at all. Legs are there.
Matt FoxYeah. Because I remember the Weller antique and what that smelled like. That'll stick with me forever. This is very reminiscent of it. That's not a bad flavor at all.
August GitshlagI wonder what makes it wheated. Have we ever talked about it? Like I said, why does it weed? Oh, but just because it has the wheat in the in the mash bill.
LA Tease, Ceremonies, And Pop Performances
Matt FoxThat's it. Yeah, that's uh that's perfectly drinkable for$28.99 a bottle. Well, the redemption's always had a you know good brand behind it, too. But for you to find redemption at half price, that's a steal. Legally, legally, right?
Jamie FlanaganBecause yeah, when you were telling me that I'm like, this can't be right. Yeah, it can't be true. You're lying.
SPEAKER_02Michigan has laws. I mean, the law makes sense because if you have a bunch of stuff that's just not selling and you're stuck with it, it's like we need to get rid of the shit.
August GitshlagI guarantee you, your local corner liquor store isn't doing this. No, no, and they can because they can't afford it, they're sitting on all their stuff and you know they don't buy it in bulk enough to have it laying around, right?
Matt FoxSo but what on that list that you read off, all of it was flavored. It was all that's that was flavored, but BS.
August GitshlagI didn't I I didn't take a picture of page one. So there's there's more than those guys were probably on page one to see if I could find it online, if I could pull, you know, because a lot of this stuff is like public. And is there is there a place where I can find submitted reduction lists? Right. Talk about a you know, if you do that. Go hunting, yeah. Well then I think that all the liquor stores would go hunting too, right? And then you know they would go, Jim would go buy a bunch of stuff and throw it on a shelf and charge full price for it, you know. Well, there's a lot against that. Yeah, well, you see it happen in in in stores in in the hamstring. Someone takes the EBT card and buys all the milk from CVS and then sells it in their store. You know, it's kind of stuff happens. So I do think it's interesting that it's also very limited. Like they show you got to put down how many bottles are available that way, and you and it also says you have to post this list publicly in the liquor aisle. Oh, so it's there. Oh, which is why you saw it. Yes, so it's it's by law you have to look for it. So from now on, I'm going to Kroger and if they're you know, there might not be no one's saying they have to do a bridge. Was that Cro was that Kroger? No, this was Meyer. Meyer. But I'm going to Kroger and Meyer. I'm gonna look around to see if there's a little dangling piece of paper or something.
Matt FoxI didn't know that tidbit because you sent that sent us that message this morning, this afternoon. I was already on my way to my local Meyer, and I'm like, I'm done. I'm I'm on my way.
Jamie FlanaganI was gonna look for I didn't find anything. There were there were things that you could get your Meyer perks for M perks right for purchasing, and that's why I picked up the Jamison's triple triple. So I got three dollars triple in M perks on the Jameson's triple triple. I love the Jameson's triple triple.
Matt FoxAnd how many points did you get for that purchase? I don't even know.
Jamie FlanaganI don't know. I'm I I try to do uh I try to do uh coupons and stuff, but I just uh yeah. So but this is triple distilled, triple cask, bourbon, sherry, and chestnut casks. Irish whiskeys. Have you ever had that, David? No, the James's triple triple one. I've never had that. We'll have to try that.
Matt FoxIt's I we we've done that, we've had it before.
Jamie FlanaganI like it. That's why I got it. I was like, I was looking for something. I'm like, well, this is a deal, right? So we got the M perks on it at the at the Meyer.
August GitshlagSo sure, but it's an NCAP spot. They usually have those on the end. All right, here's the Legion. This is definitely a darker yeah, but it's you know, as soon as it said sherry in wine casks, I was in.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, but this uh but the the the redemption to go back to the redemption, it it's not grassy, but it is weedy. Yes, it's weedy. It is weedy, but it's not bad weedy. Sometimes wheats are like me. Yeah, it's a nice wheat. It's a winter wheat, I guess. I don't know.
Matt FoxWhatever it says in the bottom, it is very drinkable. We'll just say that. Absolutely, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganAll right, all right, now on to Largent. Legion Legion.
August GitshlagWe are Legion. I didn't read where Legion's from. I'm assuming Kentucky.
Matt FoxDid you August? You posted this earlier. September of this year, bourbon and beyond in Kentucky. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's a festival. Daddy's a lot retired like a La Lapalooza for bourbon.
August GitshlagFor well, no, for it's a music festival. It's a music festival, really. Yes, it's the headliners of Foo Fighters, Mumford and Sons, Chris Stapleton, and Dave Matthews. Yeah, right.
Matt FoxAnd then Queens of the Stone Age is in there as well as well.
August GitshlagYeah, they're the secondary. Yeah, the second, yeah.
Team USA Pride And Michigan Ties
Matt FoxA favorite bands.
August GitshlagYeah, I've seen Queens, they're good.
Matt FoxYeah, yeah. Yeah, so I I was mentioning that to Holly this afternoon, and I'm like, I think I might have to take it.
August GitshlagIt's uh it's 400 plus dollars a ticket. Oh shit. For the weekend, you can go to one day, yeah, and the the hotel room is gonna cost us like$2,800 for four or five days.
Jamie FlanaganWe're gonna have to flex some man cave muscle and get some deals.
August GitshlagI'm like, well, that's that's why I'm not paying for my tickets. I'm flexing muscles.
Jamie FlanaganAnd not man cave muscles, but you got you got radio muscles down there. Yes. I got radio muscles. You got something there. Is it a brother or cousin or cousin? Cousin rated with some radio. Yeah, and uh we claimed them this year, and my brother's gotten them in the past.
Matt FoxI'll uh I'll fit into your carry-on if you are so obliged.
August GitshlagSure. Oh, this is this is a Jim Beam product, gentlemen. Uh yes, bottled and produced uh produced and bottled by James B. Beam Distilling Company. Jim Beam? Jim Beam? Claremont, Kentucky. All right, sure. All right, let's give it a taste here. Again, I I had this, I cheated, and I had this at House, and I I enjoyed it. But I was a little schnickered that night, so no, there's no telling. It's definitely it has a boozier taste than the other one. I had a hand. Oh, I like I like this one. I like it a lot. I like the smoothness to it. It reminds me of the basil Hayden Dark Rye and that and that Solera in there. The barrel age, the the the way you age it change the casks is really cool. I really think it adds character to these, otherwise, all the same sort of tasting bourbons. And there is a there's a little red in it.
Matt FoxThere's a little red absolute sitting on the back of the palate, the red.
August GitshlagYeah, I get the little prune back there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matt FoxLittle uh flesh of the apple type deal.
August GitshlagI like this. I can I can play it up. Yeah, I fuck this.
SPEAKER_02I'm just gonna say that bottle's pretty narrow.
Matt FoxIt's not that's that's sticking, that's sticking for a while.
Jamie FlanaganOh, sorry, mom.
SPEAKER_02All right. Are you no you're Jamie? Your mom knows you.
Jamie FlanaganI I would hope. 94, no, actually, she doesn't. No, oh man. A tubes? A little bit. Hey, what are you gonna do? All right. Are you getting the barrel? Are you getting the the the taste on the on the on the taste too? I was getting it on the on the back end.
Michigan’s Liquor Law Loophole Explained
Matt FoxI was yeah, yeah, and it just keeps layering on the back end. Yeah, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganThat's pretty.
Matt FoxYeah, I would do that again.
Jamie FlanaganThat is pretty.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would drink that. Just well, here's your change. Enjoy it.
August GitshlagYeah, yeah. If it if the price is right on the I'd I'd pull this off the the shop. I'll have one of those neat. This is something that I would order. Yeah, I like this.
Matt FoxI would throw an ice cube in this if it was a if it was just you know, you have time.
August GitshlagOh, yeah, do we? Yeah, how much time you got on? Yeah, you have ice cubes right there. There's ice cubes right there. Oh, yeah, that's gonna be around the bend.
Jamie FlanaganAll right.
August GitshlagI got cubes right here. So what I'm taking what I've been doing is I had a a very small old fashioned that I started with with a little bit of tangerine. And I put the weeded on the rocks. Oh now I'm gonna put this on there. Oh, hey, you're gonna get my palate clean to try the Irish stuff. I can't stand. What about Irish? I can't do Irish whiskey anymore. I'm just not I just don't I am finished enough. The only thing I drank, and now I just can't. The all these bold flavors have ruined the thinness of that now. It it is like scotch to me. I can do it. I can get scotch because scotch is a thing for me. I can't do a scotch at all. And it's it's like ugh.
Matt FoxWell, what happens when you drink scotch?
Jamie FlanaganOh, it it's it's no nothing good. Nothing good.
Matt FoxRemember your pants turn. You'll turn the scrooge.
Jamie FlanaganAll right. Tequila. You'll turn the scrooge, McDuck. Yeah, it's uh yeah, it it gets it gets bad.
Matt FoxYeah, just for scotch for me, it's like I just can't get over the leatheriness of scotch for me.
August GitshlagIt just either leather or charcoal water or peat moss or horse hoof or some kind of shit that they want that they brag about. Horse hoof. They brag about it, you know.
Matt FoxIt's like what are you filtered in sheep's wool from the mountain of you know, clariness or I like the smell of leather, I always have, but when I you put it in to be put into my liquor, filtered through some yap cheese.
August GitshlagYeah, you gotta boil it like the Donner Party. Soup. That's what scotch tastes like. Donner party soup, boiled shoe leather.
Jamie FlanaganAnd that's when the cannibalism starts. Yeah, that's right.
August GitshlagThat's what amazing.
Matt FoxWow, I just learned a whole bunch in one sentence.
August GitshlagWe were doing we were doing the the whiskey society at uh WTF. Yeah, and it was an early one because February is a short month, and they they got it in. It was a it was a blind taste test, which they've never done before, and they had four styles of whiskey, and every everything's a whiskey. That's you know, so yes, go with that. This was just two weeks ago, right? Yeah, had to name the style, then she gave them to us in an order, and we had to take tasty, he gave us all four at once, which is unusual for them. Usually they pass them out and they do a yeah, yeah, little talk. Excuse me. So they we had them all four, and it's me and it's it's Barry. And that was his first uh visit the the firebird, yeah, firebird, firebird Tony, and we're sitting there, and I'm like that was their first visit to the Whiskey Taco Fox Foxtrot, right? Yes, no, no, no, no, no. They all been there before, but not for this. They remember that. This was their first Davis was there too. Yeah, so we're writing down notes of what we think it is. I'm like, oh, this has got to be Canadian, this has got to be this, this and this. The first sip, I go, fucking scotch, and I wrote it down on the on the little thing. So they first people raise their hand, they're like, It's uh Bush Mills Irish. It's like no, and everyone goes, No, this is uh this is a Canadian, this is like Royal Canadian. No, no, no. And I raised my hand, and she always likes to pick on me because I always say something stupid. She fucked up, I go, it's cheap fucking scotch, and she goes, and then the whole theme was reality shows and talk shows. She's like, August, you are the father. And then she pulls the label off, and it was Cuddy Stark. Cuddy Stark. It is cheap scotch. Nailed it, nailed it.
Jamie FlanaganWho had Cuddy Stark? Their dad had Cuddy Stark on the bar. Everyone did uh back in the day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My grand had a bottle of water in Cuddy Stark back in the day. What you know, anyway. That yellow label with the ship. Everybody had it.
SPEAKER_02It was always there.
Jamie FlanaganYeah.
SPEAKER_02My my grandfather was he used to have these gallon jugs of Kesslers. Oh, that was his thing. I mean, in fact, we every Christmas we would get a bot an empty one of those bottles, those those gallon bottles filled with change. That was our Christmas gift every year. So I had like four or five of these Kessler bottles hanging out in my house for a little while.
August GitshlagThere was a certain bar in uh in a certain city that had a system where like you you like your for your well drinks was on the gun. And they had a half gallon flipped upside down of like well whiskey, well this, and Kessler was the well whiskey at a place in St. Cloud Shores. I'll tell you the city. And it would just that was your whiskey and coke. So you just order whiskey and coke, you got Kessler and Coke. Wow, and it was just like oh I I have a friend, a long time hit uh a legend in the bartending community. What is it called? Yeah, it is an exact columbus Catholics without basements.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, yeah, yeah.
Matt FoxYou're making me smell. You don't know me. You have a basement, Jamie. I do, I do.
August GitshlagIt's several. Since my Irish radio started, he has nothing but basements. Anyway, starting to kill the podcast. Uh Hoover, the legendary bartender from uh uh the uh uh Honest John's, the old days. Yeah, he's a Kessler guy. It's a shot of Kessler with Hoover, and yeah, it's I I do it when I see him. He bartends still like once a month at Donovan's. Yeah, and I'll do a Kessler with him. He's like, God damn it. I'm like, you're the one who started this shit. I would never taste this at all if it wasn't for you.
Jamie FlanaganSee, we should have started with the the JMO. We should have. You think so? Yep. Too thin. No, it's because there's too much other stuff in your mouth right now.
August GitshlagOh, that's what she said. Oh wow, heads up.
Matt FoxWhat kind of podcast are you doing now? That's the name of my porno.
Clearance Lists, Store Hunting, And Strategy
August GitshlagThat's the name of my porno. Too much stuff in my mouth right now. Too much stuff in my mouth. Yeah, I agree with you, Jamie. Thousand percent. It tastes like shit now. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I totally made that up. It's actually much nicer than I expected. You know what I want to do? I want to go grab a bottle of regular Jameson. Do we have any? I don't know. Oh, to compare it? Yeah, we don't have any. I thought we might have had a little bottle. I drank it. Oh, never mind. Duh. If you uh you personally took uh inventory of it and you know exactly what you've destroyed, then that's fine.
Jamie FlanaganI yeah, I drank that about an hour ago when I was interviewing the games an hour ago, literally, yeah.
Matt FoxYeah, who were you interviewing on my Irish radio?
August GitshlagYeah, so we had uh there's a oh who are you interviewing, Flanagan? Who was it now? Who'd you have in the basement?
Jamie FlanaganThey're coming to the Gaelic League. I can't find the hat or not. Yep, they're coming to the fifth. Gaelic what the Gaelic League in downtown Detroit, there on Michigan Avenue. It's uh Lunissa is the name of the band. Very, very traditional band. They've been around since like '97. So they sound like all the other bands. I no, they do good stuff. Yeah, I love it.
Matt FoxI jumped in on that when I when I got here this evening. I jumped in on the interview for a few seconds.
August GitshlagAnd I just have to give you shit.
Matt FoxI love you.
August GitshlagI love you.
Matt FoxNo, the gentleman that it was uh Keith Crawford, right?
August GitshlagUh yeah, yeah.
Matt FoxSo he was telling you that Irish music is really popular in Japan.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, hey, we're big in Japan. I mean seriously. That is that's like a running joke with like Detroit musicians. Oh, but we're really big in Japan. Yeah, and it's but he was BMV, he was sincere, but yeah, Irish music is taking off in Japan, apparently. So, all right, okay.
August GitshlagI mean, I mean, as much as I joke about it, some of the most amazing live fiddle work you're ever gonna see, is in top-notch Irish bands for live music. Yeah, yeah. You're never gonna see live music fiddle players like you do in these Irish bands. They're just and and then the Irish punk bands, the rock bands like Stone Clover, and those people they just crush it.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, yeah. I just I was hanging out with a guy from Stone Clover yesterday.
August GitshlagPauly? Yep, and he's a different friend. Let's get him on. Yeah, he was he was like super excited. You think I talk a lot? Yeah, but you get Paulie in this one as June. There'd be no oxygen left for David. I love the guy, he's a great podcast.
Jamie FlanaganIt was a it was a big event. It was the uh parade kickoff at uh the Hibernian Hall, and there was four bands, and but Paul was just sorry. He was just they were just hanging. The the main band was Brother Crow, who were Bruno's boys, then the Creelers, and whatever. All right, so it's like a Monty Python sketch.
unknownYeah, right.
Jamie FlanaganIt's uh but so but they have a new fiddle player, and boy, am I glad they got a new fiddle player.
Matt FoxOh boy, uh she's pretty girl.
Jamie FlanaganOkay, well, that always helps and she's really, really good. So I love the Brothers Crow. And they their fiddle player was like here and there, but the this new lady they got just on fire with them, and it adds a really new dynamic. I then I just I just I've been a fan of those guys for years and years.
August GitshlagUm Coke. I just saw you put coke in one of these burp rings. You did, you did. Thought you you thought we could get away with it. Nope. I know what I'm doing. So are you getting do we should are you getting anything on this? I'm getting a very lacy, non, it doesn't make me go like a regular Jameson or a regular bush mills will now. No, Sam, Sam. I was given one yesterday. I enjoy this the triple triple, triple triple, yeah. It's and I also don't make that face when I drink a red breast.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, there's a flavor profile to that, triple triple. And if we hadn't had these are very flavorful, these uh the weeded they very they absolutely are. There's a lot of legs on them, there's a lot of oil in this.
August GitshlagIt's your guys' fault.
Jamie FlanaganYeah, you're welcome. But I still enjoy my soft Irish whiskey, yeah.
August GitshlagAnd this is a very flavorful, it's a and it's a soft, flavorful Irish whiskey. Well, you'll you're if you if I didn't live it myself and sit here with you guys and actually pick whatchamacallit, proper 12, proper 12 as my favorite of those. I never would have believed you. Yeah, I would never believe you. I was blind, blind.
Matt FoxIt was blind, and yeah, my my le my most favorite was my least favorite. Yeah, yeah. My most favorite was the proper 12, and I really thought I would not like it. Yeah, I actually have a bottle of not the red breast, but the bush mills, and it's the red bush mills that I had purchased with got the red bush. I got the red bush, yes, but black bush is good.
August GitshlagFire cross. We were at the Drury Hotel in uh DC, and we were walking with some guys, me and a couple friends were in town for some event, and some guy, some Irish guy was there, and he's like, Yeah, you guys want to have a drink? And we're like, but he goes, I've got the red bush, and we're like, Whoa, but it's it's actually some Jamesons, yeah.
Tasting Redemption Weeded Bourbon
Matt FoxSo take your pin, and she should be awake still, all right. No, I just I bought the bottle when my father was in town for a visit, and we never cracked it together, but we had all the intentions to because I gave him choices. I said, Well, I have this, this, and this. And he goes, Give me that, but we never cracked the red bush, so my bottle is almost empty, and I was just drinking on it. And it's a light Irish whiskey, like the Jameson. Yeah, I enjoy it.
Jamie FlanaganIt's funny, those guys from the Irish band, right? They're all from Ireland, Lunissa, right? And they're kind of snowed in. They're they were playing in in New York and they're on the east coast, and they're getting womped on over there. So they were snowed in. They had a double, they had a double header yesterday, and they played the morning gig, but the afternoon gig got canceled because uh it was like on lockdown. But so they're snowed in and they're at the hotel, they get back to the hotel. He goes, It's so funny because the the one of the custodians here was grew up in Connamara, and he said, We knew you guys were coming. He goes, And I left a gift in your in your suite, because they have a suite that they share that they kind of they're practicing in. And so they went up there and he said, and he left us some moonshine, it's 120 proof. And I'm like, I'm like you know, bond the bond, isn't it?
August GitshlagYeah, that's like Tuesday for us, but specifically, it's like Monday for us. It's like Monday, bro. And I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, oh, really? 120. Wow, I was like, yeah, go like that on. I go just yeah, whatever. They got different government regulations that they got from I assume.
Matt FoxNo, I'm proud of you, Jamie. You know, my Irish radio was really getting some legs, and it's you know, you're interviewing some really interesting individuals. You had uh Piper of some person, yeah.
Jamie FlanaganAllie, Allie the Piper. Yeah, she's got she's like crazy on social media. She's like related to rowdy rowdy. No, no, okay, no, should be because she's like does like Metallica and Ozzy Osborne on the backpipes. So yeah, yeah, she does she does like some really amazing covers. I'm I'm I'm excited to see you uh she's playing at the motor city. I was talking to her because she's playing the motor city Irish Fest coming up this summer in June.
August GitshlagThis was a good find, guys. I don't know if I'm ever gonna find something. I mean forget for that 26 bucks, yeah. Yeah, for$25.99. Yeah, that is a this is worth I think it's worth taking a flyer on any of the bourbons you see, yeah. That aren't, you know, because they're not gonna be the Buffalo not it's never gonna be makersmark, right? No, it's never gonna be Bullet, it's never gonna be Woodford, it's gonna be these, right?
Matt FoxSo here's the question, August Legion or Basil Hayden Dark Rye, which one are you gonna start grabbing towarding towards?
August GitshlagWell, I'm gonna take the basil hidden dark rye at$38 a bottle over this at$50. Okay.
Matt FoxI and see, this was the half price, which is why yeah, and all day.
Tasting Legent And Cask Finishes
August GitshlagIf it was if this was good for$25. If this is sitting next to it at$26, I'm gonna take this again. Oh, yeah, yeah. I won't pass on this. Yeah, yeah. That that's what I wanted to hear. So, both of you folks out there listening, please chime in on the on the uh I'm sure they do this already in their bourbon clubs. They probably I'm sure these bourbon clubs do this, right? They they go out there, they put up, hey, the Meyer on Eight Mile and Woodward has is dumping you know Woodford double oak 42 because they don't it's on the list, right? It's all about when that list come out. And I don't know if it's a regular thing, if it's dated like that. I mean, I've just watched that this one. My I know now the one on on Mound and Warren is gonna come up again in April. Yep, yep, yep. I'll give it a look. See, but who knows if they can apply for one in the middle. Yeah, sure.
unknownSure.
August GitshlagI don't know those rules. I'm not a I don't own a class C liquor license, or not class C, a package liquor license. Ah it's different. Yeah, there's I only really pay attention to Class C's, the on-premise drinking, which people don't realize that Frazier has, you know, I work for the city of Frazier and they have a uh military installation there, they have a little National Guard base that has a bar in it. Yes, they do and Grossback.
Matt FoxYes, they do.
August GitshlagYeah, well, I did not know. They have a liquor license bar for an officers club, they do their stay, they do their stand downs once a month.
Jamie FlanaganI did not, I did not know that. Did not know that. I've been I've been teaching in that city for 22 years. That's weird wild stuff, did not know wild stuff.
August GitshlagIt's uh I can't do Johnny Carson, I can just do Dana Carvey doing Johnny Carson and do it for me.
SPEAKER_02It's an impression of an impression of an impression, but that's what you have to do because you have to make it very apparent.
August GitshlagYou have to make it different.
Matt FoxYou have to make it different for copyright, exactly.
August GitshlagRight, then I'll get like sued for being AI. I'm not doing any voiceovers as as as you know, Jeff Goldblum any days.
Matt FoxAnother character. That cat, I gotta tell you. That man has had a career.
August GitshlagReplicating his cadence, replicating uh Christopher Watkins' cadence, it's tough. If you can do it, study once you can do it, it's you know, but it doesn't sound once you can do it, it's it's fun and it just makes everybody smile now.
Matt FoxBut here's the thing it's it's it it it's different, but when when when you get when you get the timing down, it it works.
August GitshlagAny of you guys listen to satellite radio regularly? There's that one ad for some Christian healthcare that like insurance or whatever, and it's a total ripoff of Goldblum. It drives you nuts. And he even stumbles on his words just like him, and it's like you know, it's just it drives me nuts. I'm like, sue the shit out of these guys. Sue them.
Matt FoxThat was that was my best, my best Jeff Goldblum I could come up with. Oh, I didn't even know. I didn't even hear it.
August GitshlagLet's just put that one away and work on something else.
Matt FoxI I don't I I understand what you're saying.
August GitshlagHave you watched the new Muppet Show yet? I have not. So the new Muppet Show on it's on Disney Plus. Oh it's good, but there's a new voice for Kermit. No, and it's it's kind of hard to listen to. Kirby, Kerby, what happened? I feel like I do better. And it's like the guy started out strong, yeah, and then it was kind of gone by the end of the show, and it was noticeable. I noticed it, and then I went online and looked it up, and there's like a Reddit community dedicated to the Kermis boys, what's going on? Thank you, Segal. Everything else is probably yeah, it's You know, he's been obsessed with the Muppets forever, and he's but it's not Siegel anymore. It is, no, it is.
Matt FoxNo, it is uh no, isn't it?
August GitshlagUh the no, not Seagull, it's uh Seth Seth Rogan. Yes, yeah because Siegel started the he did start the revival the the revival. Well, Disney owns him, so Disney started the revival. They just wanted the famous name to be exactly.
Matt FoxHow did we go from Irish to Muppets?
August GitshlagYeah, well uh Kermit's green. Okay, yeah, there you go. Jamie, anything it got to us doing the the the weird wild stuff, uh Johnny Carson voice into time to go impressions. Yeah, there we go. Oh, you got a text from the wife, huh? Yeah, no, wrap it up, Jamie. Uh all right, so yeah, folks. Uh put in the in our Man Cave Happy Hour uh Facebook page if your local mire has got some decent stuff for sale.
Matt FoxYeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, subscribe, leave a comment.
Jamie FlanaganDo all those internet things and all the internet places that people do and stuff and things, and then tell a friend, yeah.
Irish Whiskey Comparisons And Preferences
August GitshlagOh, yeah, and then tell their friend and tell us if you want to be on the show, yeah. We like aficionados to come on and talk about their urban experiences.
Jamie FlanaganI was like when the the neat or neat or stir guy came on, he was that was like great, yeah, and then left us glassware too. Which was which you don't have to bring us gifts. We we always want a box of that. We well, you but yeah, if you're a corporation of some kind, yeah, a box of that. But uh, you don't have to bring us a box of that if you're just uh a local person in whiskey in the average.
August GitshlagEvery birthday party I ever threw in the bar business, I always said gifts accepted. Because people would always say, No gifts, don't bring gifts. Bring it. Nope, bring it. Yeah, uh this Friday I'm bartending at Whiskey in the Jar. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Tips encouraged aware of it. Not whiskey in the jar. Oh my god. After 18 years of working there, and back it up. I mean Susie's Bar I said whiskey in the jar where I where I worked for years and years. So they're coming out of retirement. Brisky was listening. Uh no, Susan wasn't.
Jamie FlanaganShe wasn't.
August GitshlagShe was not. She was. She was she. That's her heart. That's her heart. That's her. Oh boy. But August.
Matt FoxWhat's the date, August, that you're going to be there? No, it's August 27th. No, uh, February 27th. February 27th. This Friday of 2026. Yes. You're going to be at Suzy's Bar in Ham Tramic. Behind the bar, cash only.
August GitshlagCelebrity bar. We already have one party bus that I've scheduled.
Jamie FlanaganAnd there's uh there could very well be microphones there at the end of the day.
August GitshlagThere could very well be a podcast breakup. If any of you notice, I put up my little my little flyer for it. There is a man cave happy hour logo in the corner. I saw that. I stopped short of saying co-host of the phenomenal podcast, the Man Cave Happy Hour.
Matt FoxJamie, I saw that you're interested in said event. I am said interested in. That's that's so Friday from now.
August GitshlagThat's like two more clicks.
Matt FoxYeah, that's so no, but that's so Friday. You just don't know what's gonna happen.
August GitshlagThat's it.
Matt FoxNo, but over here, yeah, that's Jamie.
Jamie FlanaganJamie Flanagan is over here. I am, and and comfortably next to me. Whose podcast is coming up next? The motor city hypnotist, David Wright.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and across from me is the uh charming and handsome August Gitchotch. Sorry, I'm I you could put you with the last name.
August GitshlagYou can just go with August. Gitch lagged. Gitch lag. Gitch lag. Gitch lag. I've said that. Hey everybody, I'm August Gitchlag, and next to me. I've said your name a hundred times. My dear friend, one of my favorite people in the world, Mr. Matt Fox. August, thank you.
Matt FoxYeah, see you guys.
