Yeah, we talked about you. Someone say I've never left the party, and that's why I'm always in trouble.

Jamie Flanagan:

Where's a bell? Give me a bell. There it is. You don't want to tie uh any all right, yeah. Bell's good enough. All right, fair enough. Yeah, so you were uh traveling the world.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, not the world. A little bit. Oh, anyway, that's my phone. My phone's talking to me. Oh no, and the one who didn't turn the volume off on that guy. Who's the numbnuts? That would be me. Um, you know, it's been so long since I've been here, I forgot to write the rules. Come on. Yeah, so I made my first trek across the pond. Yeah, oh yeah. So you're very that was your very first. I've never been to Europe.

Jamie Flanagan:

Wow. So uh we have okay. So Colina were watching uh the Sunday morning television, and they're like, the internationally performer Alexander Zoncek. I'm like, what did he play in Windsor? They're pitching Alexander Zoncek as this international recording artist.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, he I'm like, why he's the master of the who's the pan flute the pan flute. Who's that guy? Is that him? I always liked him. I always liked him.

Jamie Flanagan:

So we're being causing, but you really went. Yes, I went to Krakow, Poland. Krakow. I'm jealous. I but where we're uh I'm happy.

SPEAKER_03:

It was quite the trains, planes, and automobiles trip for me, though.

Matt Fox:

I mean because you left at what time in the morning?

SPEAKER_03:

So it it okay, Saturday morning, our time, uh-huh at a 10 a.m. flight to Newark. That takes an hour and 20 minutes to get to Newark, right? Sure. Then we had eight hours to wait in Newark to get on the plane. Hey, look, to Munich. Well, here's the best idea I ever had because we're flying Luftanza. Uh-huh. They gave me the option on their on their app to buy two Luftanza lounge tickets for 50 bucks a pop. Okay. Unlimited booze, unlimited wine, unlimited food for eight hours.

Jamie Flanagan:

Eight hours. You could eat, take a nap, get drunk, take a nap. Yeah, and eight hours.

SPEAKER_03:

And then have a snack and grab for a plane. Get on the plane. Yeah. And that's exactly what happened. All right. Uh, so it was the best 50 bucks a person I've ever spent in my life. You know, just the the wines have alone would have been 50 bucks for two glasses of wine and some French fries in the airport, you know. That was a great deal. Twice that, yeah.

Jamie Flanagan:

Yeah, well done. Yeah. So well, welcome back. Thank you. Thank you. You there was there was you said something about Polish mead. Did you bring back? I brought back a bunch of meads. Really?

SPEAKER_03:

How do you bring back bottles from I put them in my carrier or my my check luggage and hope for the best? Really? Yeah. They're all little ones, all 750 or the 250s, not the 750s, not the big ones, just little ones. Okay. Okay. And I got uh I brought like six of them back. So all right.

Jamie Flanagan:

So you said we're gonna you're gonna bring one in and uh we'll try a Polish. I love the I love the sounds of that.

SPEAKER_03:

Sweet. We drank a lot of mold wine and a lot of mold weed. Weed, weed, mold mead. Speaking of weed, because we were there for the Christmas markets. That was the original reason. Last year, Kat went to Munich and Nuremberg for the Christmas markets, and uh she wanted to go to Krakhov this year, and so her mom and dad said, Oh, we'll go. And then it became a family affair with uh her other sister, her other sister's family and the kids. And next we know we're nine deep trying to find gluten-free, dairy-free restaurants in Krakow. Right.

Matt Fox:

But you found them.

SPEAKER_03:

We found them and I had one of the best pieces of pizza I ever had in my life in a place called Zakapane. It's like Frankenmouthon incredible Hulk steroids, it was super tourist jammed. Yeah, so and we were apparently were there on the busiest day of the year, which is December 6th, okay, which is like the first day of Christmas there. Yeah, yeah.

Jamie Flanagan:

So we were there and every boy scout. Santa puts the coal in the shoes on December, yeah. At least for me. For my house, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, and yeah, so it was it was jam-packed full of people. That's great. All right, Satan and some really cool Airbnbs. The Krakow is an ancient town full of young people, okay, which had a lot of energy. Wow.

Matt Fox:

Is it Krakow or is it Krakow?

SPEAKER_03:

Krakow if I was if I'm you know, I'll get the shroud actually yell at me if I don't say Krakow. Krakow. Hey, I'm in Krakow, man. Let's have a can I get a coarse light and Krakow and some French fries. They do have french fries, but their burgers are not burgers, like we know them.

Jamie Flanagan:

Yeah, so yeah, you got you. It was funny. I texted you, you're like, Hey, you back? He's like, Yes, and I'm getting some American food.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, I want to write for a good old-fashioned bacon cheeseburger.

Jamie Flanagan:

Yeah. Oh, I did that, you know, it's been one year since we lost Kat. Yes. What yesterday? And the last yesterday.

SPEAKER_03:

And the and the last bit put up a great picture of her. I'm like, this is the perfect picture of Kat. That's how I'm always in my head right there. Just gorgeous. The hair and everything. Just boom.

Jamie Flanagan:

But the last time I DJ'd with Kat, I played one of her songs again. And she just hugged me. She came up and was rubbing my back. And I'm like, oh hey, tonight's taking a good turn. And then she's like, you know, I played this about four songs ago. Oh boy. I'm like, oh, damn it. She's all right. They're still dancing. I'm like, all right.

Matt Fox:

Second time. They wanted more.

Jamie Flanagan:

Love that woman. The gig economy was suffering. Yeah, yeah, very much so.

Jamie Flanagan:

So we were like, it just coincided with a Todd's event, and I had that shirt, and I'm like, hey, I because I asked the Todd's people that kind of find themselves in charge of the entity. I was like, Do you mind if I do that? And they're like, Oh my god, no, we haven't done shirts in you know 10 years, do them. And so I did, I put it out there, and we made, I think we gave 500 bucks to uh two different bartenders, Tara and somebody else, who were struggling through that time. But somebody asked me about it this week, and they're like, Well, who was doing those Todd shirts? And I was like, I'm like, that was me. I I don't like, you know, I mean, I'm not trying to make money off of it. Um you know, I'd like to make a couple of bucks, but yeah, I just I just love the culture and I love the I'd love I want people to have them. So and I want to make the dollar ninety-five off of each or yeah, you want that cut. I get it. I mean it's I seriously, it was about a dollar ninety five to three bucks somewhere. So hey, it helps pay the bills here at the man caveat. It does, it keeps the keeps the lights on the podcast your voice studios keeps it.

Did I yeah, how many dad jokes do you go through a day as a teacher?

Jamie Flanagan:

God, yeah, yeah. Uh a lot. Uh a lot. So uh they say, Mr.

Jamie Flanagan:

Here's here's my favorite. Can I, hey, Mr. Fan, can I go to the bathroom really fast? I go, okay, gross. Whoever times that.

We're gonna end, but I wanted to do I I because I I picked up this bottle of bib and tucker from our good friend Big Tony at the wine garden. Okay, I was there uh yesterday. Yeah, this he's got the he's got this on the on the shelf. This uh I saw it. Uh it's uh it's interesting.

SPEAKER_03:

I saw a few different bibb and tucker uh label labels. I've always been uh I love the original. When I go to paint a lady, it's one of my go-to for my for my old fashions there.

Jamie Flanagan:

This is new and tucker. This is new. He's sold me a bunch of I want to do an espresso old fashion. So yeah, that's what I'm thinking because this Bibb and Tucker is finished uh with coffee beans. Is that what it says? Coffee beans. Oh, all right, from Columbia. We'll read what it is. Columbia. But I want to do and I don't know if you want to do my beard. I don't know if you want to uh do a taste first or the bibb and uh just to just add a bit of a bit of a taste of the of the of the naked thing. The coffee's not your favorite.

SPEAKER_03:

I know. I'm gonna, it's not like I'm I mean, I'm not gonna rank it. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna blast it. But I thought I'm gonna taste it.

Jamie Flanagan:

I thought that would be a nice aside, a nice accompaniment to the to the the double neat box. So double neat, it's a box service. There's coffee, there's coffee pods, right? So we got these double neat coffee pods. Is there actually whiskey in there? They're whiskey infused, right? And if Kyle Taylor was here, he would say.

Matt Fox:

I did want to create more laundry, but we ain't doing it.

Those were a lovely gift from our bourbon pal. Neat or stir, folks. Yeah, those are. Neat or stir. That guy, that guy had a story.

Jamie Flanagan:

So single served coffee pods came in this this box from Double Neat. I didn't fire up the curriculum, so because I figured we're we got a lot of stuff to drink. But then there's a whole array of snacks and goodness in here. And we kind of dove into it before. There's whiskey pecans, yes. Whiskey pecans pecans or pecans. How are we talking?

SPEAKER_03:

Is it pecans or pecans?

Jamie Flanagan:

Barrel pick me that jerky. I mean, I've been dreaming about that. I know. What you call me? I know. And then Berman Albans Maple Slow Roast. And these were all in the all in the tisket atasket that was in the basket. In that big box of that.

SPEAKER_03:

I drink maybe really meat beef jerky. I gotta get out the old air fryer recipe back soon.

Matt Fox:

Good stuff right there.

Jamie Flanagan:

Yeah. It's it's it's got a little bit of a kick to it, though.

SPEAKER_03:

It does.

Jamie Flanagan:

So I thought the I thought the uh bibb and tucker coffee. Yeah, yeah. There's a second bag, there's a second bag of each of these. Because yeah, we kind of we kind of hit the jerky a little bit. I think we we enjoyed the we enjoyed the jerky.

SPEAKER_03:

Whoa, that jerky has a that's a late hit. Oh, it's great. That's that's peppery.

Jamie Flanagan:

It's wonderful. It's wonderful. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Matt Fox:

Yeah.

Jamie Flanagan:

But it's nice jerky, but it's um it's soft. It's um it's a little chewy.

SPEAKER_03:

It's uh wow, it's got some heat to it.

Matt Fox:

Yeah, it's not like the jack links where you gotta break your jaw just trying to get a small piece off of it.

SPEAKER_03:

Snap it into a slim gem and do it.

Matt Fox:

No, it's not happening.

So we got enough Glen Karens on here. I only had there was only one other one in there, so there's plenty in there.

SPEAKER_03:

Jamie Flanagan:

Well, I said the other small ones by the where smaller puffs.

Is your first time in the studio?

Jamie Flanagan:

By the coffee maker. By the coffee maker. By the coffee maker. By the coffee. Oh, see, I wasn't looking at it that I had used that one, and I think I'd use this one. I've used two. Who wants my sloppy seconds?

SPEAKER_03:

You can use it for yourself.

Jamie Flanagan:

I use two. Oh. But that one, that one's I mean, I'm not scared of your cooties. That one's dry and my cooties. This one's moist my cooties.

SPEAKER_03:

Is it moist from the pantry? It's moist. Moist from the pantry.

Jamie Flanagan:

So that barrel, but the barrel picked jerfe. Jerky. Jerfey? Jerfey. The barrel picked jerky is jerky. Yes. It it it has, it's it's it's peppery, but there is a smoke to it. There is like a smoke.

SPEAKER_03:

So this all came in one box, right? Yeah, beetle jerky, the the the coffee pods, the pecans, pecans, slow roast or two.

Matt Fox:

Two boxes of the coffee.

SPEAKER_03:

Two boxes of that.

Matt Fox:

Because okay, so I have a tradition on Thanksgiving morning and Christmas morning. Uh-huh. And I do Irish hazelnut coffee. Oh it's my my Folgers black silk, hazelnut creamer, and Jameson whiskey. My hazelnut.

Jamie Flanagan:

Black silk, porn star coffee flavor.

Matt Fox:

Correct, correct. But I'm really curious about this whiskey coffee because if I can just do this and my hazelnut creamer, I'm I'm good. I don't have to spend the money on the Jameson.

Jamie Flanagan:

You'll always, you always need a little Jameson. All right, you're fine. Yeah. Although I do want to try these and see how I'm just curious because I've whiskey infused they are whiskey coffee, single barrel pods.

Matt Fox:

Yeah, I'm just very curious. I might have to.

Jamie Flanagan:

Words on the oh, you want me to read? Yeah, all right. I gotta take my glasses off because I'm that guy. Any of you guys get your Spotify list of your top podcasts that you listen to each year? Oh, I know you listen to me. We we ranked fourth on my list. The man gave this? Yeah, this is how often I don't listen to myself. It's just weird. That's great. Yeah, after Tony Kornheiser, which I was in the top one percent because I listen to that every day. And uh Conan O'Brien and Chuck Todd. Those are my four. And then and then Chuck Todd, the news anchor, dude. Chuck Todd. Chuck the Chuck Todd cast.

Matt Fox:

Jamie Flanagan:

So these are nice. This is like the gift that keeps on giving. Let me see those whistles. Yeah. It's like the jelly of the month. Park. That's a gift that keeps on giving for the whole year. It's um, you know, you could gift this to someone who who likes snacking and and likes you know bourbon things. It's like you're like, oh, I don't want to give him a bottle. He's a drunk. I don't want to encourage that. There's no booze here.

This is just snacky snacks. Yeah. My parents get my sister gives my parents every year for Christmas the international snack box. She keeps on giving the whole year. I love that. It's exactly the same size as this box, and it comes with it's like the Netherlands, and it has all the snacks that they sell in the local convenience stores in like Rotterdam or something, you know. It's a box a month. They get yeah, they get a Hungarian one, Turkish one, you know, Russian candy, Polish candy. So what I brought back for them, because I know they love their snack boxes. I brought back fresh made cow candy, the Polish cow candy, which is like a car caramel, caramel, whatever caramel, caramel, caramel. It's it's Christmas season, so it has to be like caramel. Did you get them a box of cud? No, okay. Got them cow candy, and they love it. They said it was so good.

Jamie Flanagan:

Whiskey garden or wine garden. The whiskey's kicking in. That's what happens when you do a my Irish radio before you do this. You just drink that Irish whiskey and it sends you off. You're just a little off.

Jamie Flanagan:

It is, it is. Yeah, boy, am I a whiskey dick. Yeah. But um bum. All right. I was at the wine garden right when he opened up his uh new speakeasy called the best kept secret, and uh the representative from Bibb and Tucker was there. Yeah, I'm 90% sure the guy's name was Tom, but I'm only 90% sure.

Yeah, it's Tom Tom Mulrennan. Anyway, so I got it scared. Tom, call okay. So, Tom, we're talking about your stuff. But Tom had had just pitched this to Tony because it was brand new. He's like, Let's try it. And uh, there was about five people in because it was like the second night it was over. The five I missed the first night because I had a school event. Yeah, like Tony, I'm so sorry, I can't be there. And I went the second night he was. open and there was like there was like there was like 10 people there and then some of them left and it was like this rep a couple you know good Tony's good friends and me and the bartender right and the the Tom pulls out he's like Tony he goes we're gonna try this and he pulls out the fifth and cracks it it was gone oh wow you went through it huh yeah so they poured a couple cocktails with it and we we did it we did it on over ice and but it all right so bib and tucker it it bibb and tucker I like bib and tucker it's just kind of a fun bottle to have on your shelf yeah it's a good bottle if you're watching the video it's fun it's good it's not sell it here they only recently brought it to Michigan I used to get it from Kentucky a cork stopper which is kind of fun and it's like a a a black on black or a brown on brown bottle it was like a jug and then yeah and yeah it's like an old timey feel to it you know exactly you know yeah yeah yeah so it's it's it's nice the recess class and everything but this six years old so this Bibb and Tucker small batch bourbon whiskey infused with coffee beans the gold roast bourbon it's batch number one coming in in 92 proof and it's uh Bibb and Tucker gold is aged for six years and a new American oak as as it would be infused with roasted coffee beans giving this bourbon a complex yes noticeably smooth finish with subtle notes of roasted coffee now are they subtle or are they not that will be up to the discerning cocktail tricker so I want to make but I was thinking because last week we did an old fashioned we did a grand old fashioned we did an old fashioned but instead of using simple syrup we used uh grand manier yeah oh that's that's an old bartender trick yeah very it was fun it was uh so we made a grand we made a grand old fashioned and so those it was nice and so today I thought we would do an espresso old fashion okay uh but before we before we try the espresso old fashion and I don't know it's not a recipe I'm just I'm I'm winging it I'm this is jazz style all right so we're just on check all just happened I don't know yeah he thought he was uh the anchor man there from anchor man I was playing the Yazz flute I thought he was way I thought he was Wayne and Garza on one yeah yeah time time warping it so I figured we'd give it a try it we'll try it try it neat fair we'll try a little sippy sippy neat first revisit Wayne's world now and if if you want you and then we can do a cocktail but I haven't I I'm not following a recipe I just brought the what's the recipe for straight whiskey no no no no for an old for the old fashioned okay for the old fashioned right so that's probably a half ounce pour there for you guys so indeed so on the nose what are you getting on the nose i got i'm getting the coffee right away yeah straight it's straight away it's straight away coffee on the nose coffee on it yep and but but there's a there's a bourbon behind it there's it's not just uh it's not just your McDonald's roast it's there's a there's a bourbon yeah is well a 90 proof is a little hot it's not super hot and then sippy sippy sippy it's it's I don't get overwhelmed with coffee from it but I'm a coffee drinker yeah and I can tell that there's definitely a coffee flavor in this Bivin Tucker definitely can tell let me just wash my mouth out with water.

Yeah and the new council just undid it all yeah they they resented it all all right so an old fashioned is usually two ounces of bourbon correct a half ounce of simple syrup okay depends on it depends on taste yeah on the recipe I know we're going by old the old fashioned old fashioned two ounce two ounces two ounce of bourbon half ounce of simple syrup three dashes of bitters and a garnish right usually an orange slap that peel so I don't have an orange we got the Luxardo cherry I do have simple syrup but I also have maple syrup yeah I don't need that you don't want to instead of simple do a splash of maple syrup no I'd say I'd I'd go get that grand marnier back out with the coffee the grand manier and coffee well let's just try it your way I don't want maple syrup though you don't want to do the maple syrup I'll do simple I like I would rather do agave syrup I like doing the maple I do that at home though with the maple syrup and the with the New York sour when I do my New York sours I do the maple syrup and the New York sours okay so you do you buddy not here to tell you what to do at home all right so that's what I was gonna ask I was gonna ask where which way do we want to go do we want to go with the maple syrup or do we want to go with the simple syrup we'll go I'm a simple it was two you guys both I brought up Fox and I are simple men to discuss meat and potatoes kind of thing okay but here's it here's the thing here's the thing you don't know me what we're doing is we're offering people options okay and I told you what the fuck I wanted I was talking to the camera okay not to you I was talking to you looking at me looking through the camera right at me I know I know I was making good eye contact but um I felt it move all right so but I'm bummed yeah yeah yeah all right so it but again I I like to go a little lighter on the simple syrup yeah yeah when I when I do it you say half ounce I usually go a little lighter than that yeah so that's about a half ounce but I'm making a double okay so you need more than that yeah so you're gonna shake that up or stir it up and divide it amongst three yeah yeah dump that in there dump that in there yeah do it yeah dump that shit yeah yeah baby yeah faster like that South Park where he's uh calling all the food that the the his wife tells him to stop watching food network because he makes too many complicated dishes and then when they take it away he starts calling into recipe lines and he's like yeah deglaze that shit glaze it yeah I miss that I missed that episode so funny I think that's the one that has the uh shake weight too three here's your cab fair oh my god cooling mist all right so I'll just double in it we can divide I don't have to make it triple right now you better don't fuck with the dashes made you gotta get dashes just right no now here's the thing now I didn't get the orange because we have we have just the regular standards I didn't bring the orange into the room I just brought the standard angostora because I thought maybe with the maple syrup it would be too complicated.

okay the coffee still it holds up the coffee does hold up with the bit in Tucker the coffee holds up give me that bottle the booze are you gonna add a little more yeah for you wow for you August Mr I don't drink coffee no no I just want to get a more boozy taste one thing old fashioned is delicious sometimes you'll we it's really easy to over so who had less who had less simple syrup in there to start with and who shouted at me to put more well I think it was the right mine it was right move I just wanted a more boozy taste no you did it right you did exactly how people want them to taste yeah I'll see that's how the the the the old fashioned I like boozy I like boozy I like boozy too but if you're at a bar or restaurant you expect it to come with that sweet orangeness to it I don't mind this at all but there's no there was no I mean the Angus store there's no orange no I mean the Angus story this is just regular no it's just a sweetness but I do get a little between the maybe the combination of this and the yeah oh yeah yeah yeah I still get it I think it may be pulling it out of the pulling it out of the bourbon I just I just added a Luxardo cherry to it just to see how's that work for you Matthew I don't know yet I haven't tried it all right I'm trying to I'm trying to skewer a Luxardo I hope you get one in there the the the let me get in our mini fridge in here I this and I I'll I'll wrangle stuff in and I help them out and I there you go so you know it's it's you know we we work together so but anyway but it's funny I was like telling Colleen to go oh yeah we should go to this thing because it's a you know I they're like how she's like how do you get the invite to that again and I'm like I'm an influencer she hates that term oh my god she's like she's got
