Can we really trust award shows to reflect true talent, or have they become just a spectacle of celebrity antics and bizarre fashion choices? Join us at the Man Cave Happy Hour as Jamie Flanagan, August Gitschlag, and Matt Fox with Mrs. Vino Kristen Carlson challenge the relevance of pop culture phenomena like the Grammys, with a special focus on notorious figures like Kanye West and fashion daredevils like Jaden Smith. We couldn't resist a nostalgic trip down memory lane to recall Will Smith's glory days before that unforgettable Oscar blunder with Chris Rock. As we gear up for Valentine's Day, we share some chuckle-worthy tales from our own love lives, celebrating the strength of partnerships with a light-hearted flair that keeps the mood cheery and engaging.

When it comes to wining and dining, spontaneity is key! That's why we're all about those hidden gem family restaurants and budget-friendly outings to ballgames or symphonies. Our latest obsession? A delightful rosé from the sustainable South African estate Babylonstoren, paired perfectly with chocolates. We explore the rich flavors and affordable luxury of South African wines, even with those pesky tariffs, and dive into the distinctive taste of Costa Rican cacao, complete with its unique mucilage twist. It's all about savoring quality without breaking the bank, celebrating tradition, and supporting sustainable practices. So grab a glass, some chocolate, and let’s toast to good taste and good times!

Jamie Flanagan: 0:02

I said, hey, hey, welcome to the man Cave Happy Hour.

Matt Fox: 0:10

I said hey, hey, welcome to the man Cave Happy Hour. We're going to drink a fine whiskey and smoke a really fine cigar.

Jamie Flanagan: 0:25

It is time for Happy Hour. It is the man Cave Happy Hour Whiskey, cigar, spirits, the stories that go along with it. I'm Jamie Flanagan, that over there is August Gitschlag.

August Gitschlag: 0:33

Matt Fox, you look so cute across the table.

Matt Fox: 0:35

Thank you, that's my argyle. I got my argyle on.

August Gitschlag: 0:39

I know it's a friendly argyle.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 0:48

And she'd laugh at too hard to say and then I am mrs vino kristin carlson.

Jamie Flanagan: 0:51

We got the band back together for v-day oh gosh, where is this gonna go tonight?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:00

everywhere always goes, we got lots.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:03

we got chocolate, we bread, we got olive oil. It could get weird.

August Gitschlag: 1:09

It looks like a ditty party.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:10

I was going to say too soon what?

August Gitschlag: 1:14

The Grammys were last night.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:15

Okay, the Grammys right Is Kanye canceled.

Matt Fox: 1:19

He wasn't invited.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:20

He just showed up with his naked wife. Talk about doubling down in the time of. You know, wasn't Kanye? Did he get in trouble for some stuff we don't?

Matt Fox: 1:33

know he ran up on stage when Taylor Swift was getting in a war.

August Gitschlag: 1:37

He's like oh, hell, no, and that was like 15 years ago. Was that Kanye that did that?

Jamie Flanagan: 1:42

Oh yeah, yeah, but he doubles down, or maybe his wife did. She said, well, I'm going to go naked.

August Gitschlag: 1:49

I stopped watching the Grammys, did you see it?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:51

I saw the blurred out pictures and I'm like, oh, that's sexy. If you're advocating for a nudist colony.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:58

That's cool man, I don't understand it. Grammys are garbage.

August Gitschlag: 2:01

They're garbage, rigged garbage. I Grammys are garbage.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 2:03

They're garbage rigged garbage.

August Gitschlag: 2:03

I don't watch it. There was years ago when you couldn't win a Grammy unless you were dead, so like. Warren Zevon won every Grammy when he died.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:09

Van.

August Gitschlag: 2:10

Der Roos won every Grammy, when he died. All these people that actually really did good music got pushed out by unknown albums, by dead people, and it was just like I was done with it. Speaking of which, the Beatles and the Stones were both nominated this year.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:22

It was the first time the Beatles and the Stones were nominated for Grammys in the same year ever.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 2:27

Really I didn't know that. I've seen the Stones twice.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:31

I follow Gary Graff. That's not my knowledge. That's tip of the hat to Gary Graff. Gary knows, gary would know.

Matt Fox: 2:38

No, ganoos is good ganoos. I'm Gary Ganoos. Gary Ganoos, yes.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:45

He doubled down on the naked wife thing. That's crazy. And then Will Smith's kid Jaden.

August Gitschlag: 2:52

With the castle head, unfortunately.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:54

Did you see that?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 2:55

I don't watch. No, I don't either, I miss it.

Jamie Flanagan: 2:59

I miss it entirely. The kid had a box on his head he had a castle on his head it's like yeah, it's just, it's nuts.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 3:06

Really Whatever you're feeling that morning, I guess, I guess.

Jamie Flanagan: 3:09

No, it's, it's, it's. You know what I want?

Matt Fox: 3:11

Beyond kooky, I want to wear a home on my head today. Yeah, that's what I'm feeling.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 3:18

Log cabin. Hey, can you do that?

Jamie Flanagan: 3:33

The memes. You do that, the memes and the memes are underway, which is which is hilarious oh see, that's, that's how I get my pop culture.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 3:34

Oh my god, just what? In the actual castle on his head? Just a castle that's oh.

Jamie Flanagan: 3:36

No, oh, that's funny, but you missed.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 3:37

You missed the next star coming down the carpet.

Jamie Flanagan: 3:38

Oh yes, ralphie somebody, somebody created a meme and they put Ralphie in his bunny outfit next to it. It's just so dumb he looks like a pink nightmare.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 3:55

That's the best thing about pop culture is the memes that come out. You're not wrong, chris.

Jamie Flanagan: 3:59

Rock's kid was going to be there and he was just being prepared, so he didn't come up for his dad it's like your dad slapped my dad, I'm going to be there and he was just being prepared so he didn't.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 4:06

Uh, you know everybody hates come up.

Jamie Flanagan: 4:07

As for his dad, it's like your dad slapped my dad, I'm gonna slap you.

August Gitschlag: 4:09

So he put on the protective head is there any ever anyone that peaked so high and was so popular as will smith round independence day? Men in black era right, it was nobody more beloved he was like america's favorite neighbor, favorite uncle he was the coolest dude in the country.

Matt Fox: 4:24

You knew If Will Smith was in a movie in the year it was going to open on July 4th weekend. Yeah, that was his mainstay.

Jamie Flanagan: 4:32

He was on a roll there, which gives you the freedom to smack Chris Rock.

August Gitschlag: 4:36

The only thing that could bring a man like that down is a woman.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 4:42

How are we going to segue into our Valentine's Day? Wow?

Jamie Flanagan: 4:45

Nice segue. We had to get out of that Quagmire Hollywood.

August Gitschlag: 4:50

Well, I got us into talking about Valentine's Day, all right.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 4:54

So behind every strong man is an even stronger female. Is that what you're saying?

August Gitschlag: 5:00

She doesn't have to lift much, something like that. She doesn't have to do a lot of push-ups.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 5:06

I don't have to be Helga. I've got the Hulk.

August Gitschlag: 5:10

Yeah, you've got Wolverine.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 5:11

Yeah, I've got Wolverine, so Valentine's Day.

Jamie Flanagan: 5:16

Yeah, but there's such high pressure in some couples, right? So I'm a lucky guy. My wife is amazing. It's our anniversary. It was like our eighth anniversary, or up to 15. Now it was a tenth or something. I'm like, hey, we should go to Eddie V's for dinner, right, this fancy plants place over with me. She's like, why would we do that? I go, it's our anniversary. Yeah, she goes. Oh, that's today. Yeah, you go, and then she goes. I didn't get you a card.

August Gitschlag: 5:44

I'm like, okay, well, the new land man dropped on Paramount plus on am busy and yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 5:49

Oh, she loves that show. What was it what?

Matt Fox: 5:51

show land boss, land manager, land boss.

Jamie Flanagan: 5:55

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so, but yeah, so she's, she's. I'm lucky there's not a high pressure, but some people sometimes the guys feel that they need to take a girl out someplace special, and then some ladies demand it.

August Gitschlag: 6:12

This is that whole that you know, tiktok prom culture of you got to ask someone with a nuclear bomb strapped to your waist to be cool.

August Gitschlag: 6:19

That's the explosion of the century. And you got to air right where you go to prom with me, rebecca, and she says no. And then what do you do? You're out 800 bucks for air writing of the century. And you got to air right when you go to prom with me, rebecca, and she says no. And then what do you do? You're out 800 bucks for a air right oh man, yeah, no, there shouldn't be any.

Matt Fox: 6:30

Uh, there shouldn't be any pressure well, growing up, you know you're in kindergarten, first grade, and right around mid january you start seeing the hearts come out in the classroom and all of a sudden you're making a valentine for your kid, for your little spider-man ones you'd rip in the perforated ones you give to everyone in class yeah, how many kids got in class?

Jamie Flanagan: 6:51

how many you know? There's only 20 in the thing. There's 22 kids in class. Who loses out? You gotta have now.

August Gitschlag: 6:55

You gotta have 40 of them now. Yeah, because mom puts them in a bag for next year. Yeah, and then by seventh, sixth grade, you just take whatever's left over and you pass them all out.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 7:05

Well, that's why those candy hearts? You can reuse them. Those never go bad, they don't.

August Gitschlag: 7:10

They don't. I mean you can write on the chalkboard with them.

Jamie Flanagan: 7:12

It's like candy corn Keep and keep and keep.

August Gitschlag: 7:15

Yeah, I'm one of the few people in the world that doesn't hate candy corn. I enjoy candy corn.

Jamie Flanagan: 7:18

I enjoy it.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 7:28

I nibble it. I'll nibble, I'll eat the little white tip off and then I'll eat the yellow bottom off. Okay, now that might be american psychotype.

August Gitschlag: 7:31

Yeah, I was just gonna say that's a little so. That's, since we've mixed up so many holidays now, so we talked about valentine's going on, we got to keep it away from keep it away.

Jamie Flanagan: 7:38

Oh, oh good good call, good call, but going out prices are higher the restaurants are insanely busy, insanely busy and and and. Then they're which, to their credit, good for them, you're right, yeah, and you know what?

August Gitschlag: 7:51

detroit has more dining options than they've had since, you know, the 1950s. Right now, maybe more the most ever.

Jamie Flanagan: 7:56

So there's plenty of room out there, don't hesitate, but you know you're not wrong but then you're, you're just jammed up with you and getting rushed out the. Ubers are all jammed up and everything, yeah, so it's like I'm a romantic, I'm the one that remembers, let's go do something. And she's like what, why? But I like to do something, but on these big, big holidays you know, swedish Day is a Midwest holiday- that's a corporate holiday.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 8:24

Yeah, it is. It's a corporate holiday. Yeah, it is it's only five states.

August Gitschlag: 8:26

It's like Michigan, ohio, indiana and Buffalo.

Jamie Flanagan: 8:31

We're in the quagmire of it. It is, yes, Morley's Candy. Thank you very much, but I still like to do something nice. But going out to those restaurants for me is just it's too much. What about you, Matt?

Matt Fox: 8:45

You know, being in a previous relationship, uh, it was something that was important to the other person and I just I just followed soon. I'm like, okay, this is what. This is what's happening. I'm getting you a card and flowers. Here we go nowadays.

Jamie Flanagan: 8:58

It's uh, it's not really less, less pressure this time around, yeah, I was gonna say less pressure that's nice when've got a relationship like that.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 9:06

So you get to just focus on what then exclusively.

Matt Fox: 9:09

I get to focus on them the other 364 days of the year.

Jamie Flanagan: 9:12

Yeah, see, there you go, being this delicious piece of man candy that he is.

August Gitschlag: 9:18

And to add to it, it's on a Friday this year.

Jamie Flanagan: 9:20

Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, every place will be swamped. I said, hey, let's talk about some alternatives. Let's not go out, let's stay home and do something nice. Now, you might have a girl or you might have a guy.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 9:37

That's not an option.

Jamie Flanagan: 9:41

They have to be out, they have to be on display.

August Gitschlag: 9:43

Sometimes going out is a cop-out. You've got to be out. They have to be on display. Sometimes going out is a cop-out.

Matt Fox: 9:47

You've got to do something. I want a pedestal. Put me on one.

Jamie Flanagan: 9:51

Some people need to be. She can have mine C and D scene.

August Gitschlag: 9:56

You can borrow it at least.

Jamie Flanagan: 10:00

But if that's not your situation, I vote for avoiding it Really. Yeah, I think for avoiding it Really.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 10:05

Yeah, I think it's I, you know it depends on where you're at in your relationship, when, when it's new, like for Logan and I. We've been together for 14 years married for seven Right. But yeah, when, when we were first starting out, you know, things like that were important because we were just trying to figure out what each other, what we'd like.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 10:24

Yeah were important because we were just trying to figure out what each other, what we'd like, yeah, um, but you know, as you, as you age and you get older and you're with your partner for a longer period of time, there's more of that. Let's just stay in yeah instead of hey, let's go out right stay in, and especially for a specific oh, you are 40 aren't you, huh, you, you.

August Gitschlag: 10:41

Don't say I'm not yet let's just stay in. I'm not yet.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 10:43

Oh, come on, man, I still got a month left.

Jamie Flanagan: 10:47

Hey, hey.

August Gitschlag: 10:49

We spent. She divulges that information in private.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 10:52

It's the light of death you cross it.

Matt Fox: 10:53

You cross it.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 10:54

Not private anymore.

Jamie Flanagan: 10:55

We spent the entirety of Sunday in our pajamas. It was a pajama Sunday.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 11:05

We never jam of sunday. We never got out of our pjs.

Jamie Flanagan: 11:06

We were being old people, see. But that's a good alternative, right, nice, that was, oh, it was a gorgeous, gorgeous sunday with the cat.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 11:09

Yeah see, you could do a little breakfast. You could even have mimosas in the morning.

Jamie Flanagan: 11:13

You know, keep it, keep it.

August Gitschlag: 11:15

No, no, you'll get there, you'll get there no, I don't ever want to get there, you'll get there. Objects in motion stay in motion.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 11:24

Okay, what's your ideal V-Day celebration?

August Gitschlag: 11:28

Oh, I don't care.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 11:29

I mean, I'm here to learn more.

August Gitschlag: 11:32

But Sundays in the PJs is not doable.

Jamie Flanagan: 11:34

No, yeah, yeah, yeah, that was fun we don't do it.

August Gitschlag: 11:41

You know that often I'm supposed to be more stay at home. I'm supposed to be programming myself to be, yeah, less out and about. I dropped out of one of my many obscure sports leagues so I'd have another night home, a week all right well, you're making progress.

Jamie Flanagan: 11:53

I know because you have feather bowling, you have bowling.

August Gitschlag: 12:01

uh, yeah, softball, you had uh the qu League. Yeah, I gave up my broom, all right, so where were we here? I don't care where we were, I want to hear more about the Huggins before I derailed it again.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 12:11

Is he a Hufflepuff, a Ravenclaw? What are you, Gryffindor?

August Gitschlag: 12:16

Not a kid, he shot first you just said that you play Quidditch.

Jamie Flanagan: 12:20

He shot. I told you, I said, I said well then Jamie yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 12:25

Jamie's pure Slytherin yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 12:27

I'll do that, like in the daily announcements at school. I'll say, oh, the Quidditch team has a meeting, and then you'll get a couple of really nerdy kids show up and they're like open the door.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 12:43

I want to Wow, wow. Somebody knows the door. I want to. I want to wow somebody knows some spells cheers.

Jamie Flanagan: 12:51

Oh my gosh, oh too funny so but when we're not being absolutely lazy, having pajama day and we're just having home, uh, like over this football season, colleen got into making like some really cool charcuterie boards, yeah, and she was like I mean, she was like folding up the meats and like really taking it. I'm like we're gonna take this and sit in the living room the two of us and just shovel this into our faces. It sounds awesome.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 13:12

She's like I know, and mama and so you know, but she was taking the time and she put together a couple really nice boards yeah uh, over the holiday season, um, and then, uh, I kind of she kind of ratted herself out.

Jamie Flanagan: 13:25

Um, the second time she did it, colin and my daughter, my semi steps on his girlfriend showed up and it's like, oh yeah, hey, I made the charcuterie board again. Uh, so she was making it for them because they were supposed to come over and they didn't. I was like, oh, that wasn't just for me, she wasn't going, it was because the boy was coming home for some charcuteries. Uh, but still, it was really nice and fun to do that at home.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 13:46

Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of things that you can do at home, or even, you know, not going out to the restaurants. You know I always tell everyone just make reservations, even if it's not a holiday.

Jamie Flanagan: 13:56

Yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 13:56

Make reservations, especially when it's, you know, small, local, family-owned restaurant business. Support local, yeah, support local. That's one. If you're going to go out, don't go to a chain.

August Gitschlag: 14:07

National Coney Island. Taste Reservations.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 14:09

Just show up, that's half of the fun right there. That's half of the fun Beer and a Coney dog. That's a cool date for me. I'm down for that.

Jamie Flanagan: 14:22

There's other things you can do where you don't have to be at home. Are we diving into Lafayette?

August Gitschlag: 14:26

American thing or no? No, I'm not. You saw the gears turning in my head and I was backing away from it.

Jamie Flanagan: 14:31

I was backing away from it, all right, but just going down to get some bleacher seats at the ballgame too. That's a nice little date.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 14:40

Quality time right, it's all about just quality time.

Jamie Flanagan: 14:43

You get that StubHub super cheap ticket. It's like honey, let's go. I like doing that.

August Gitschlag: 14:48

We stand outside the Symphony in the cold until the StubHub seat comes up cheap.

Jamie Flanagan: 14:51

I'm like let's go see Tchaikovsky Go, that's how classy, I am Drinking his schnapps out of a paper bag. Keep it warm Around the burning trash can.

August Gitschlag: 15:01

Symphony tickets are down to 30 bucks.

Jamie Flanagan: 15:03

Go, go, go got those fingers with the gloves cut off, the gloves with the fingers cut off. Oh man huh all right.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 15:09

So what are?

Jamie Flanagan: 15:10

what uh? Yeah, no, all right. So what, uh? What do we have before us here? I brought a couple of wines and because I was thinking I like it's for me if I was buying me, I got some.

August Gitschlag: 15:20

Uh, I love the the sondage those things are a thing, and I'm not a chocolate person. Those are addicting.

Jamie Flanagan: 15:27

Just in time for Valentine's Day they have the heart-shaped ones. The salted caramel these are the dark chocolate sea salt caramels from Saunders. Love those. I pick these up because this is what I would put out. Which location did you get those from? I got this from the Papa, from the papa joe's oh okay, on, uh, on woodward there.

Jamie Flanagan: 15:50

And then, um I so I went by keiko's and uh talked to joe. I said, joe, I need something red, rich and bold to go with dark chocolate. And he threw a couple bottles of red wine at me and we're gonna get to those. Uh, but what? What you? Because you got something a little lighter to start with yeah, yeah, what were you thinking?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 16:09

yeah, so you know, you know me, I. We always start light. Usually we start with bubbles.

August Gitschlag: 16:13

No bubbles tonight, but this rose that I brought is that too cliche to do bubbles on at uh on for valentine's day?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 16:21

do whatever you like. You like Whatever your palate likes.

August Gitschlag: 16:25

I'm looking to you for this shit. That's why you're here. I know Whatever I like. I don't know what I like. That's why we have you here. I'm a troglodyte.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 16:33

We're going to try this. This is a rosé from South Africa. Babylon Storen is a really beautiful estate in South Africa where they are regenerative, sustainable. They have a garden, a resort vineyard, all of this. And then this specific rosé is made out of Movad, which is also known as Monastrell, and it's the Chelsea flower show wine that they pour there. So the queen drinks this.

Jamie Flanagan: 17:04

So cheers to the queen. I thought you were thinking like Chelsea Michigan I go. They do a flower shop up in Chelsea.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:10

No like overseas over the pond, over the pond is where we're going.

August Gitschlag: 17:17

So, this is a beautiful palette cleanser. Wait, isn't the queen dead?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:20

No, she's not.

August Gitschlag: 17:22

Did she just? She's like 110, just handed it over to Charles. Is that what happened?

Jamie Flanagan: 17:25

No, she's dead, the queen's dead.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:28

Was it last year, so the queen ain't drinking this Well, she was.

Jamie Flanagan: 17:33

Anarchy in the UK.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:35

I don't know if it was this vintage or not, but here cheers, Cheers, guys. Happy Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone out there.

August Gitschlag: 17:44

Let's see what we got here. So it's not embarrassing to drink pink wine.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:47

No, it's not.

August Gitschlag: 17:49

It has a stereotype out there. It's cheap, yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 17:52

Well, it can have a stereotype to it if you want it to. But if you like it, drink it, If you don't dump it.

August Gitschlag: 17:58

It doesn't taste like Elon Musk.

Matt Fox: 18:03

I don't want to drink it now.

August Gitschlag: 18:05

It's actually rather refreshing. It's actually at the perfect temperature too. It's not too cold, so you can taste it. Sometimes you can get this People put it in the fridge. It gets super cold.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 18:14

Yeah, just a slight chill on it. Yeah, just a slight chill. This is one of my favorite wineries. I mean, it's everything they do. They have their own honey bees, everything that they provide the resort. It's all grown there, so it's a farm, it's. It's really cool grain to glass.

Jamie Flanagan: 18:33

It's sweet, but not. There's a bit of a dryness. There's a sweet with a dryness. Yeah, there's still.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 18:37

Yeah, it's still dry. Yeah, it's definitely a dry uh, still rosé, and I first had this in uh 2002, I think so, and I I've always you were old enough to drink back then.

Matt Fox: 18:52

I was yeah, yeah, just making it up for the last one, yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 18:58

Nice recover. Thanks guys. Yeah, and then I brought um. I brought a couple other things specifically from Babylon store in. They actually make their own olive oil. Like I said, they're a farm, so olive oil. I forgot to bring a nice little dish, so I found a martini glass.

Jamie Flanagan: 19:16

Is that cool? Yeah, yeah, yeah improvising.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 19:19

Absolutely and then some really good bread from Quintoro's I love the Filon family over there and then these are called. This is called Beterlecker, so after we're done, drinking.

August Gitschlag: 19:30

What did you call him?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 19:31

Beterlecker, beterlecker.

August Gitschlag: 19:33

That's my nickname in college.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 19:38

So this will have after we drink all of our wines because that's actually a non-alcoholic bitter and it helps you digest, so that'll be good with the charcoal pills that you guys already took to absorb everything Right.

Matt Fox: 19:52

Planning ahead, all right.

Jamie Flanagan: 19:54

But so pairing up this rosé right. What is this pairing with the bread? Is this just a starter?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 20:01

Yeah, so this is just a starter, but this specifically goes really well with you know really light salads, okay, you know, because it's just it's starter, but this specifically goes really well with you know, really light salads. Okay, you know because it's just, it's a lighter wine, whereas when we break into this, this big one. So this is called babble, you know, like the tower of babble that's how you sound if you drink the whole bottle yeah, you'll start babbling yeah you will.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 20:22

you'll find a tower somewhere and just start, you know, speaking in tongues, but this one's a blend and it's heavy. So, that'll go really good with some of the cacao that I brought. And then your saunders.

August Gitschlag: 20:37

You guys all look to me like I had a line after she said cacao and I had nothing. I was going to let you guys do it. Fine, I know I know my role.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 20:45

I'll do everything. I'll be super American's cocoa, cocoa cocoa yeah, so really awesome rosé and then we'll break into some of jamie's stuff too.

Jamie Flanagan: 20:58

So I saw that you can yeah, that that you have fabulous. I really like their wines yeah they're really fantastic joe was raving about them, and each one of the different expressions has.

August Gitschlag: 21:11

You know I love olive oil in a can like this. It makes me think of the Godfather.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 21:17

Do you have a razor blade and some garlic in?

Matt Fox: 21:19

your pocket.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 21:21

Yeah, maybe Do it really thin, really thin. I have that same knife in my truck. That's the one I was going to use to cut the bread with. It was my construction knife.

August Gitschlag: 21:31

This thing is opening up Amazon boxes like a motherfucker.

Jamie Flanagan: 21:36

He's a man on the move, that's right. On the move.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 21:41

Man, some of this, here you go. Here's some ideas for Valentine's.

Jamie Flanagan: 21:46

Day.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 21:47

Maybe not in Michigan. Go on a picnic, pack your bag full of this stuff, right, right. Go to Heinz Park. I mean that runs through how many different, how many cities, right, so everybody has access to Heinz that was.

Jamie Flanagan: 22:00

That was one of the first dates that I took Colleen on is. We got not Heinz Park, but we went down to the Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn. We just had a backpack full of some snacks, you know, basically it was Lunchables and a six-pack, did you?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 22:23

get lucky.

Jamie Flanagan: 22:24

Not on the estate.

August Gitschlag: 22:28

The beauty of this snack, though, is you can put your favorite spice blend of any kind into the olive oil. In other words, it's like you like Cavender's Greek, or you just like some Italian, generic Italian stuff. Put it in there and let it sit for a little while and it just infuses the olive oil. It just gets delicious. And I got a bunch of fancy olive oils from my Great Lakes Olive Oil Company that are wonderful to dip like this. That's a good snack.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 22:50

Yeah, this one, you know, since it's a different, you know, this is very different soil.

August Gitschlag: 22:56

It's a very different olive oil, I know.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 22:57

Can you taste? It's very green, it's different. Yeah, very green, it's good, it's really good. Should we pop open the Babel and then go into some of the Fable-est? Yeah? I think, we should talk about some alternative to Valentine's Day or maybe some first date. That was cute, the little picnic thing.

Jamie Flanagan: 23:15

So yeah, we did that down at the and you weren't supposed to, so it was a very contraband picnic. So the grounds are open, you can tour, there's a lot of bird watching you can do and the grounds are very, very interesting there at the Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn Because I went to school at U of M Dearborn, right next door and so it's kind of a hidden gem really those grounds, and I've DJed parties in that building. Did you ever do a party in the one there on Evergreen Ford Road? No, not that one Very, very cool building. I don't know if they're still doing events in there or not, but again, it was like Pine Knob Mansion or Meadowbrook. It's just that cool old place, pine Knob.

August Gitschlag: 23:59

Mansion, that's one I've never heard of. Oh that existed.

Jamie Flanagan: 24:03

It's right up by the DT Energy Mansion.

August Gitschlag: 24:07

It's over there at the Energy Knob. No, no.

Matt Fox: 24:11

The Pine Knob Mansion. It's a really cool venue but the layout is very odd for dinner and dancing.

Jamie Flanagan: 24:17

It's an old house. The dining room is like two rooms away. Did it used to belong to?

August Gitschlag: 24:23

Mr and Mrs Knob. Yes, with a K, that old Saturday Night Live skit where all the old people, the Duke and Duchess of Sandwich, hey, what's your new invention, mr Douchebag? Everything's named after someone.

Jamie Flanagan: 24:43

You're cracking the red open there.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 24:46

Yeah, so this is the babble and, like August had said, if you drink the whole bottle, you will find a tower and start speaking in tongues. But no, this is yeah, so it's a blend. So this mainly is there's Cab Franc in here, merlot Petit Verdot, so it's good, it's juicy, it's big, it's still dry, dry, so it'll go really good with this is still the Babylon Babylon Storin just like whiskeys.

August Gitschlag: 25:17

When it comes to wine, I'm not afraid of blends. I think sometimes they're more creative, more delicious, more entertaining to drink.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 25:25

To be honest with you, I agree, I agree, I agree. There you go, jamie Reach, fox Reach.

August Gitschlag: 25:33

Yeah you got it.

Jamie Flanagan: 25:35

You're one of those movers.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 25:37

You're like levitating, like Anchorman.

Jamie Flanagan: 25:41

What do?

August Gitschlag: 25:41

I do with my hands. Speaking of levitating. When's the hypnotist coming in? Is he going to be here tonight, Eventually? Speaking of levitating. When's the hypnotist coming in? Is he going to be here tonight, Eventually? Speaking of levitating.

Matt Fox: 25:53

Alternative things to Valentine's Day. Just a nice walk. I always like a nice walk, but in Michigan it's kind of tough to do, so go to the. Dia.

August Gitschlag: 26:01

What about like a haunted house?

Matt Fox: 26:04

Whatever, if you want to go to Pontiac and visit some of the old houses a cemetery tour. Yeah, that works Well, because this time they're into that. Yeah, it's snowing.

August Gitschlag: 26:13

There's nothing cooler than a cemetery tour. Yeah, it's a nice little vibe.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 26:16

Have you ever done any like an actual tour? No or just like go walk around and see if you can find the oldest.

August Gitschlag: 26:23

But there's some great cemeteries for that in Detroit where you have like big time historic figures are all buried in the same cemeteries and you can do tours all the time. Oh yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 26:31

That would be kind of like all our, all our people are in Mount Olivet, down and down to Detroit. Yeah, like six mile Van Dyke, that's where I learned to drive, that's where everybody in my neighborhood learned to drive. Oh, you go to the cemetery, you learn to drive. So, there, learn to drive. You always go to the cemetery, you learn to drive. Yeah, so there's no stop signs are on the side of the road, right, yeah, it was funny because I was. It was a. You know, I was learning to drive on a stick, right, and so it's my brother.

Jamie Flanagan: 26:58

We had a 64 chevy 2, three speed and, uh, so he gets all right. He's telling me you know that you can do this, do this, do this. And I'm sitting there and all of a sudden, and they're like one lane roads, right, these little cemetery roads are like one lane roads. And all of a sudden, they're like one-lane roads. Right, these little cemetery roads, they're like one-lane roads. And all of a sudden, the car's coming for us and I'm like, oh crap, there's a car coming. What do I do? He's like drive.

August Gitschlag: 27:16

And I'm like okay, Keep going here we go, so you played Footloose-style chicken in a cemetery, with some old lady going to see her husband's casket. Nice work kid.

Matt Fox: 27:30

Way to go.

Jamie Flanagan: 27:31

That's how kids in the city learn how to drive. That's how we learn how to drive.

August Gitschlag: 27:37

I will tell you my honest alternative to Valentine's Day after we drink this Another nice thing to do Cheers Cilantro.

Jamie Flanagan: 27:49

And again our wine glassware sponsor, ms.

August Gitschlag: 27:52

Zavino.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 27:55

Yeah, come on, max Riedel, I'm going to troll you.

Jamie Flanagan: 27:58

Yeah.

August Gitschlag: 28:00

A full-flavored red wine. I do.

Jamie Flanagan: 28:04

There's enough fruity in it, though it's not fruity, but there's fruit in it. There's fruit in it. I like the fruit. I do. There's enough fruity in it, though it's not fruity, but there's fruit in it. There's fruit in it, I like the fruit.

Matt Fox: 28:11

I do like a dry red, and this is just enough dry to keep me coming back.

Jamie Flanagan: 28:19

This is South African. You said yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 28:21

Babylon's store-in. These are their two top sellers.

Jamie Flanagan: 28:26

With all the tariffs Soon to be uh, but no, but it's. It's getting a south african wine. Are they pricier because they they're coming from further away, or whatever?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 28:37

I don't think so no um you know, I don't know what these range, but I believe this is around. I know it's 25 or under all right, and I believe this is too.

August Gitschlag: 28:48

I think this one that's a 25 dollar bottle of wine all day. Yeah, oh yeah for the, for the, for the pink and both of them.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 28:54

Yeah so they're. Yeah so they're not.

August Gitschlag: 28:56

That's about my limit for a bottle of wine anyway yeah, they're not crazy, so it's something that you can drink every day, you know.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 29:02

and then this is um from my, from my friend lindsey iE. Kawa is her company and it's third generation cacao farmers in Costa Rica, so she gave us some raw cacao. All that is it's cocoa and the mucilage. I know that does not sound sexy and it sounds really weird.

August Gitschlag: 29:23

I think I coughed some of that up before I came in today.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 29:25

No, this, yeah this, no Mucilage.

August Gitschlag: 29:26

I'll help you with that we think I coughed some of that up before I came in today. No, this, this, yeah this. No, no Mucilage.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 29:30

I'll help you with that. We're going to rub some Vicks on you.

August Gitschlag: 29:33

That's another episode. It is. It is turning into a. That was my alternative Valentine's Day. You figured it out.

Jamie Flanagan: 29:39

This is turning into a kitty party. For sure A Vicks rub party, oh wow.

Matt Fox: 29:43

My eyes are starting to burn.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 29:44

I don't know why. So you can go to sleep, put the tablets in the shower. Put a little on the palms of your feet. Oh yeah, so it's just cacao beans. It's like a honey-like substance.

Jamie Flanagan: 29:57

It's crumbly but it's not chalky. It's tasty, it's crumbly, but it's not chalky.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 30:02

There's no sugar, there's nothing in it oh really Just two ingredients. Yeah, Crazy right. Mucilage and yeah, mucilage, and cacao beans Sweet yeah mucilage Is that a good word?

Jamie Flanagan: 30:11

You know the person who uses.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 30:13

Hashtag mucilage yes.

Jamie Flanagan: 30:14

Their company.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 30:15

Yeah, yeah. So they've been bringing this into the states and working with that farmer for, I think, around five years now.

August Gitschlag: 30:23

Legally're michigan folks. They're coming in legally so yeah, yes, yes so all of you all yes so I don't want ice busting down the door to reclaim your cocoa yeah, no.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 30:37

So they're, uh, yeah, they're really in tune with. You know what they're doing down there, the farmers, and helping them grow and expand, and you know, that's why I wanted to to bring this and just give them a little, give them a little spotlight alongside our our michigan, alongside our michigan-based saunas a state grown uh as was it, so is this.

Jamie Flanagan: 30:56

Uh, where would you find such a thing?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 30:59

so this is going to be like in health food stores and just really small, like maybe, uh, maybe papa joe's like whole foods might have it. Uh, they're not in chains like that's how? Yes, that's how you know it's.

Matt Fox: 31:12

It's small, okay, yeah, so they're they're small specialty yeah, you have to go to a specialty if you know, you know if you know, yeah, so hashtag all right, hashtag All right.

Jamie Flanagan: 31:24

So the website is http Nice.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 31:31

I know I'm going to be 40 in a month. I know.

Jamie Flanagan: 31:33

It's the web, it's I-E-K-A-W-A dot com, i-e-k-a-w-a dot com. So I would imagine on their website they probably have a finder saying find us here.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 31:47

Yes, I would imagine, and if not, they probably have a finder saying find us here. Yes, I would imagine.

Jamie Flanagan: 31:49

And if not, then you could probably order. No, this is yeah, that's yummy.

August Gitschlag: 31:53

It's fun and it's complimenting the wine. Can you send me over the Saunders, though? I'd like to get part of that.

Jamie Flanagan: 31:58

Yeah, get some of that Fentanyl over here, some of that little heart Saunders. So I'm going to hand it right back over After I have seven. Oh, healthy honey. In the little jar there's healthy honey.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 32:13

I know I didn't. We need something to scoop it out with the bread. No, I was using my wine key knife but I licked it so I don't think it's sanitary anymore. Go ahead, just cut it up, no one cares, just get in there, but I licked it so I don't think it's sanitary anymore.

August Gitschlag: 32:29

Go ahead, go ahead. Yeah, just cut it up, no one cares.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 32:31

Just get in there.

August Gitschlag: 32:32

Get in there. You want my knife. It's been opening up Home Depot boxes all day. Oh, I haven't.

Jamie Flanagan: 32:36

Well, you already put that in. I got my. I have the one you gifted me, but that's fine. Yeah so you can see how? Wow, yeah, because it said honey on it, but it looks very solid.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 32:49

It is so. There's honey, cacao, ashwagandha. Why do you keep?

Jamie Flanagan: 32:55

No, it's an inside joke with Colleen and I.

August Gitschlag: 32:58

I'm just shaking my head because I'm eating Saunders chocolate caramel salted. I'm just like I didn't hear the last seven things.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 33:03

You said yeah, he's got the bliss going.

Jamie Flanagan: 33:05

I forget what movie it was, or sitcom or what, but there is just some really aloof goof. You know the the silly person and they're like, you know, let me know if they're coming. You know, give me the sign and then, just so, it's supposed to be subtle, you know, just like. But he's like, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. So, colleen and I.

Matt Fox: 33:27

Was that, three Amigos yes.

Jamie Flanagan: 33:29

Yeah, something like that. And so Colleen and I it just all the time. We'll just like somebody would give me the signal, or whatever.

August Gitschlag: 33:35

And we're just like.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 33:36

That was.

August Gitschlag: 33:37

Three Amigos.

Jamie Flanagan: 33:37

We were like cacao cacao and it's just like Cacao cacao cacao. So it's a private joke between Colleen and I.

Matt Fox: 33:53

Not anymore. Can you pass that amazing bottle of the red?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 33:56

Oh yes, I'm so sorry. Here I can give you more.

August Gitschlag: 33:59

I made a list of these things the other day and I didn't put it on my phone, but I remember most of them, thank you, and it's the thing that's for Valentine's Day. It's the things that Detroiters don't do, that everybody who visits Detroit does.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 34:11

Oh, I like that, so we forget about them.

August Gitschlag: 34:13

So we don't realize they do tours of the Guardian Building.

Jamie Flanagan: 34:15

They do tours of the.

August Gitschlag: 34:16

Fisher.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 34:17

Building, oh yeah.

August Gitschlag: 34:18

Grand Central. Put some of this back on the map for people. They're like, oh, we can, can we tour.

Jamie Flanagan: 34:27

You can tour the Masonic Temple.

August Gitschlag: 34:29

There's three levels of Masonic Temple tours. There's insane stuff going on in that building.

Matt Fox: 34:33

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

August Gitschlag: 34:33

You can do Comerica Park, you can do Ford Field. They have back the locker rooms of LCA, the practice facilities. All those tours are available. I went when we were in New York.

Jamie Flanagan: 34:44

And of course, Motown. We took a tour of like Dodger Stadium or some crap when we were in New York and I'm like good with Colin, he was young and a baseball fan, but yeah, it was so, but they do that here. But yeah, who's a native has gone on the Detroit Comerica Park tour.

Matt Fox: 35:01

Do you know what I might have?

August Gitschlag: 35:01

done. I'm sorry, I got my full of chocolate.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:06

Motown. I haven't done that yet.

August Gitschlag: 35:07

I got to go. Oh, it's wonderful.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:09

Here's the thing I want to do.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 35:10

Let's make a date. A day date yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:13

No, but they have a. That's a good alternative too. They have a podcast.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 35:16

Day date, but then you don't get lucky.

Matt Fox: 35:18

They have a podcast studio in there.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:27

Really now recording studio a podcast studio. Radio studio in the Motown. Museum now I want to do an episode from the Motown Museum.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 35:31

Let's have Martha Reeves.

August Gitschlag: 35:32

Don't throw me into a good time. No, you don't want her anywhere.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:35

I was going to mention that I mentioned I've dealt with her. He calls him like he sees him, because I mentioned going in a little picnic at the Henry Ford Estate and that's kind of hard to do in the middle of February because it's a little bit cold. But another really nice thing to do is the Detroit Zoo.

Jamie Flanagan: 35:56

Yeah, that's true, that's four seasons, because you can go into the penguin house, into the butterfly house, there's indoor stuff to do where you're not freezing your tuchuses off and it's kind of neat, right? So it's the flowers and everything, and so there's some nice indoor stuff to do.

August Gitschlag: 36:13

That's a cool in the summertime I love the and the Detroit Zoo pops up more drinking things than you think, oh my God yeah, there are more than you know.

Jamie Flanagan: 36:21

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 36:22

Lots of fundraisers. Yeah yeah, that too. Yeah yeah yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 36:26

Yeah, and then, uh, there's another one, and now it went out of my head another cool one to do, and just you just go and kind of crash it and make it your own party.

August Gitschlag: 36:34

Huh, we I go to all the movies at the Detroit symphony orchestra. Oh nice it's. I've seen Back to the Future at the DSO with them doing the John Williams score. The full orchestra plays it, I've seen. Goonies, ghostbusters, princess Bride, which is all rewritten, but it's just a great date night. People that aren't really symphony. People forget you're watching a movie and the symphony they just did Harry Potter. I didn't make it to that, because I'm not a Harry Potter guy, but we did muppet christmas carol, right? Oh?

August Gitschlag: 37:11

that's funny yeah muppet's christmas carol was good. I want to see batman 1989 in july I already have a deal so here's, a here's another uh, we did uh. Lawrence of arabia I did it years. Oh, that would be wonderful. They did lawrence like a redford theater level stuff.

Jamie Flanagan: 37:25

That was on point. That was years ago.

August Gitschlag: 37:27

And that's the only one, the Redford Theater. But it's a huge Valentine's thing, though, to go there, I think it's. Casablanca they're playing this year, which is, of course, the greatest movie ever made.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 37:34

They just had Blade Runner, the showing of Blade Runner.

August Gitschlag: 37:37

That movie's deep man, yeah, harrison Ford.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 37:41

Yeah, my husband's big into reading and, um, you know, read the book. You know he's a huge blade runner fan.

August Gitschlag: 37:47

We all, we almost went, but redford theater I actually, when I met him, I thought he was a replicant. Oh, he's just too perfect, too perfect electric sheep.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 37:59

Do they dream? Yes, um yeah. Redford theater is really cool, the only. I've been there a lot when my mom did a bunch of bodybuilding shows, so I've been backstage, I've been in, I mean that place that's how my dad first used to go there back in the day was.

August Gitschlag: 38:12

Uh, he worked with some guys that did bodybuilding shows there and that's how we used to go there forever, forever. That's the mecca.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 38:19

So one, so one one was that for your dad early 80s, late 70s that's crazy. Yeah, rodford theater, because I just remember late 70s, early 80s getting into that world, especially my mom, because she's done 19 shows. That was one of her first was a bodybuilder.

August Gitschlag: 38:35

Yeah, and then I mean rodford theater.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 38:38

They they put on so much. They're constantly doing stuff.

August Gitschlag: 38:41

There's always things to do it's funny that's your mom this time instead of my mom. My mom gets so mad at me for what I say that she just stops watching. Yeah, she's probably going to bed now. She's probably asleep now. Yeah, for sure, that was when Tarek Skubal yelled out F yeah on the field and his mom really tweeted Tarek, I raised you better than that.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 39:09

Yeah, I knew she was in bed, so that's why I swore anyways oh man, yeah, so, um, so, joe, uh, kate goes he gave you which one, so I've had the cicada um, it's gonna be a michigan wine if it has Cacado Is it Old.

August Gitschlag: 39:26

Vines in. I think it is the.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 39:29

Scorpion and the Frog.

August Gitschlag: 39:32

Pass the mellows Papi.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 39:35

That means pass it to me, dad. Yeah, there you go, the Scorpion and the Frog.

Jamie Flanagan: 39:42

This was a cab.

August Gitschlag: 39:44

We're going to open this one because August and me want to taste this one. I want to taste this one.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 39:50

Do you want to read? No, you did.

Jamie Flanagan: 39:51

And that's the one he gave me first. And then we started talking. He's like, oh, this one's great too. And I'm like, well, I'll take them both. I go, we won't open them both. So one will be my present to Colleen, I know I keep hitting you, it's all right, it's because you insist on being this close to me.

August Gitschlag: 40:06

Yeah, I know it's not my fault. August, hand me the card.

Jamie Flanagan: 40:08

You got there, I will. So there's a. But the nice thing about these is they're based on fables. Yep, and there's a and the little fable that that goes with it. So this one is a scorpion, and the frog and I don and a scorpion are in a riverbank and the scorpion asks the frog for hey, can you give me a ride across? And the frog is like, how do I know you won't sting me? And the scorpion's like, well, of course I won't sting you. We both drowned.

Jamie Flanagan: 40:38

And the frog thinks about it. Thinks about it and he's like, well, that would doom us both. So the frog says, okay, let. So the frog says, okay, let's go, takes him across, or going across Frog's, taking him across Halfway through. Scorpion stings him and the frog is like what are you going to do? Why did you do that? We're both going to drown here. I'm losing, I'm losing. Why would you do that? And the scorpion turns to him and says it's in my nature. So the fable relates to the fact that it started as a cab brand, this fable relating to the wine. And they end up making Zinfadels. So there you go.

August Gitschlag: 41:17

It's part of their nature, where scorpions and frogs live together. You show that to me and I'll believe this.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 41:22

Yeah, so that kind of relates to like a man and a woman in a relationship, right, you know, whenever one of us.

August Gitschlag: 41:30

That's why they call you black widows.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 41:31

Yeah, it's in our nature, that's right. The?

August Gitschlag: 41:33

mantis. The female mantis eats the mate right afterwards. Yeah, the praying mantis Takes their head straight off right off, yeah, after we mate with them right, yeah, the female mantis Sounds like my past Valentine's Days Sounds like my past Valentine's days?

Jamie Flanagan: 41:47

No, no, they have been.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 41:49

Got what I needed. I'm out.

Jamie Flanagan: 41:52

See you later.

August Gitschlag: 41:54

I really wasn't mad.

Jamie Flanagan: 41:57

but, Joe, show me the story. I told you the story.

August Gitschlag: 42:00

I'm like pirate, right it's, you know, it's in your.

Jamie Flanagan: 42:01

It's like pirate, it's in your nature. All right, pass that, let me try. Yeah, you know, it's in your, it's like pirate, it's in your nature.

Matt Fox: 42:06

All right, pass that, let me try.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:08

Yeah, I know I'm trying to drink down my babble, so I can, I can try this with you guys.

August Gitschlag: 42:13

You have empty glasses, dear.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:15

Oh, I do.

August Gitschlag: 42:16

Contrast and compare.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:16

Thank you guys oh my gosh.

August Gitschlag: 42:19

They're your glasses, I know, but they look nice and polished.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:22

Did you guys sit here and polish them?

Matt Fox: 42:24

Every day since the last time you were here.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:27

Yes, just lie nod yes yes, yes dear, yes, yes.

Matt Fox: 42:32

Good job.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:33

Matt.

August Gitschlag: 42:34

You know, this is nice. It's a different taste after the babble.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:39

See, I have too much to drink.

August Gitschlag: 42:43

I have pills for that in the car.

Jamie Flanagan: 42:46

Oh, this is better, okay, good.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:47

Beautiful. Thank you, thank you.

Jamie Flanagan: 42:49

All right, Jamie.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:49

Here Let me.

Matt Fox: 42:51

She just keeps talking like this, going down.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 42:55

Oh, I know it keeps going down, all right, so the Fabulous I cheated and went right into it.

August Gitschlag: 43:00

I know you did so but 2021 one vintage it's different. Next to that, full flavored blend wine, it's a different thing.

Matt Fox: 43:07

Just on the nose it's almost like it's not going to be as full body.

August Gitschlag: 43:10

I mean I wish I drank it first. I wish I drank it before, yeah, before the battle. Yeah, because this one's going to be lighter. Right, it's lighter. I mean it's delicious.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 43:18

Is it more raisiny though?

August Gitschlag: 43:20

Probably.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 43:30

Yeah, I guess I could say it's got a little more. I asked him for bold. I was like, give me bold. I wanted a bold red that would go with the salted caramel. Yeah, that cab, the Fabulous Cab, that one will be good. But you know, I think this you know, like August said, it's hard to pick out a good red wine blend. So whenever you do, go and talk to whomever it is at your local wine shop and tell them what it is that you like or I always tell people what people are buying.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 43:52

Yeah, yeah, but sometimes you know it's just like social media or like when you go.

August Gitschlag: 43:56

When they come back for it, you can always sell one bottle of anything true, that's true, yep.

Matt Fox: 44:01

Logan checked in like what they're coming back for. He said a great episode so far.

August Gitschlag: 44:05

Love the blade runner references bringing back some memories thanks logan yeah, yeah, that redford theater gets hot, hot, hot in the summertime, oh my god, I've only been there in the winter and spring, so I can I can imagine it's got to be yeah yeah, because that neighborhood is it? They used to have armed guards when you used to go to the movies, has it?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 44:30

been gentrified yet I don't know.

August Gitschlag: 44:32

It's in the corner of Detroit, right by Redford.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 44:33

there I haven't been there in a long time.

August Gitschlag: 44:37

It's been pre-COVID. It was a little you ever know when that stuff starts to turn around. All of a sudden it's the hottest property in Detroit. Well, it is historic. How long has that been there? Sure, but that means all the houses around it are probably historic too, sure, and either empty or restored right now.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 44:52

So yeah, yeah, it's one.

Matt Fox: 44:53

It's either one or the other right yeah, it's either one and or the other, for sure yeah, for sure I do like a good red wine, I do like a good cab and this is fit the bill I would oh, that's a Zen pill. Oh, that's a Zen. I'm sorry.

August Gitschlag: 45:09

It's an old vine Zen. The grapes are smaller. They're darker because they keep coming back. The most expensive juice I've ever bought to make wine was old vine Zen.

Jamie Flanagan: 45:19

I love that you know stuff about wine.

August Gitschlag: 45:21

I paid like $250 just for the juice.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 45:25

That's why August sits by me Right.

Jamie Flanagan: 45:28

We're just heathens.

August Gitschlag: 45:32

I'm the one that's in striking distance, that's all.

Jamie Flanagan: 45:36

Matt and I.

August Gitschlag: 45:38

She's got a little pager on her hip where my girlfriend tells her to punch me. Sorry honey, Sorry honey, Do pagers work at that? Altitude she's not in the air yet.

Jamie Flanagan: 45:50

Matt and I DJed. You guys know why. Matt and I DJed a bar where they served bottles of Boone's Farm in paper bags. Are you serious? Serious, well, we used to do.

August Gitschlag: 46:03

Uh, you could buy you could buy a whole bottle of boone's farm and they would give it to you. A paper bag, two bucks. We did old style 40s in a champagne bucket just hearing oh my god no, carly's black label, 40s of black label in a uh champagne bucket. We used to do it whiskey in a jar.

Matt Fox: 46:18

Yeah, nice. I still remember that Boone's Farm night, jamie, and I still regret it.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 46:23

You remember it was a whole season. You remember it, I do. Do you remember what flavor, what color it was?

Matt Fox: 46:28

Was it blue the blue's the worst. The suntan lotion one, it was pink. Oh, it's awful. It was a pink one. I think it was the apple, I'm sorry.

August Gitschlag: 46:33

Strawberry.

Jamie Flanagan: 46:34

Fields.

August Gitschlag: 46:34

They're all apple. Oh, everything is apple wine. All of Boone's is apple wine.

Matt Fox: 46:38

When it was pink, and nice, they just flavor apple wine.

August Gitschlag: 46:41

Okay, because we go through two or three bottles for every softball game, every two innings we pass with Cannonball Dude.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 46:53

can I me get?

August Gitschlag: 46:54

you something where you don't feel no, my team, literally the captain buys it by the case and brings three bottles a game.

Jamie Flanagan: 47:00

Good Lord.

August Gitschlag: 47:01

That's fun, that's the kitschiness, it's fun that we can do it again after COVID. It was like a three-year window where we couldn't get cannonballs on the bench and I was like cannonball coming. No one wants to drink that suntan lotion shit.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 47:12

No one wants that. No, you got to have good stuff.

Matt Fox: 47:16

Thanks for bringing it. Thanks for that memory, Jamie. Appreciate you.

Jamie Flanagan: 47:19

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I was just thinking about how they know why.

August Gitschlag: 47:23

It reminds me of college frat parties, of boons in the bathtub.

Jamie Flanagan: 47:25

Oh yeah, Ay, ay, ay yeah.

Matt Fox: 47:35

No, we're not doing mad 2020 no, I want to see vapor trails come on no, this is we're elevating.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 47:43

That's why you guys bring me here right, yes, some softness fine, a little a little, yeah, I know it's valentine's day, august okay, you're right.

August Gitschlag: 47:54

You're right. All right, I'm sorry, wish. By the way, I take it all back. I'll take it back.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 47:59

Yeah, take it all back, Take all those words back, so I just noticed that August is the only one who's wearing Valentine's Day colors.

August Gitschlag: 48:05

Yeah, you pricks.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 48:06

You boys are heathens. You're both wearing black and white, and a heart.

August Gitschlag: 48:11

Okay, we'll take it.

Jamie Flanagan: 48:13

I got my Bruce Springsteen shirt. It's got a heart with a sword through it.

August Gitschlag: 48:16

A couple spears and a sword.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 48:20

I'm wearing my socks on my chest.

Matt Fox: 48:25

I don't have comments. I have comments for everyone. Crusty RL socks Too soon August.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 48:31

You could redeem yourself if you're like hey, check out my underwear, they're red. I'm not going to check out my underwear, they're, they're red.

Matt Fox: 48:38

ah, I'm not gonna show you my underwear all right, I'm gonna go get a drink I'm gonna go get a drink in the other room. My underwear is black too, so what do you want? As your heart, as my heart, yeah oh, we've got the cockles of my, all right, so what about uh?

Jamie Flanagan: 48:52

what about flowers? Kr Kristen? Where are you at with flowers?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 48:57

I love getting any type of surprises, so if it's flowers, logan always gets me an orchid, because I love orchids.

Jamie Flanagan: 49:07

Oh, nice Okay.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:09

So yeah, I feel like High maintenance. Yeah, no.

August Gitschlag: 49:12

I'm not Orchids are.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:13

No.

August Gitschlag: 49:13

Orchids are difficult to keep alive. I actually used to crossbreed them. You have a lot of work.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:17

I have a lot of like weird.

August Gitschlag: 49:18

You're a genetic engineer of flowers.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:21

Orchids.

August Gitschlag: 49:22

Okay.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:22

I have miltonopsis dendrobiums.

August Gitschlag: 49:26

They have antibiotics for that. Now it is V-Day, no, no.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:38

We're all good, we don't need. All right, that's impressive, okay, but yeah, flowers, I I'll. I'll take anything, but honestly, what do I want? Give me a bottle of bubbles, please bubbles and if I want to be super bougie, it's got to be champagne and it's got to be vintage it's got to be a vintage year I was thinking bubble bath I don't know why, oh she's quite clear that she enjoys her champagne, her bubb bubbly, fine champagne yeah champagne.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 49:57

Yes, you got it. Yeah, all right. Yeah, so I like my champagne. Okay, but I'll take anything.

Jamie Flanagan: 50:02

All right.

August Gitschlag: 50:10

I'm not. You know, beggars can't be choosers, right Sure. So we've kind of got out of's worth of flowers for $10, $12. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I wait, I wait, and they're great.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 50:17

I tell Logan all the time, like, if you are going to get me cut flowers, wait. That's how much of a thrifter I am. I'm like wait until the day after.

August Gitschlag: 50:24

Valentine's Day.

Jamie Flanagan: 50:35

Yeah, right, and just grab the centerpieces.

Matt Fox: 50:37

DJ funerals. This man right here.

Jamie Flanagan: 50:40

Rearrange them.

Matt Fox: 50:40

Okay, music you would play at a funeral. Oh, my God, music. You would play at a funeral, august Go.

August Gitschlag: 50:47

Hallelujah by that. What's his name? Wingo.

Jamie Flanagan: 50:50

Boingo Leonard Cohen.

August Gitschlag: 50:51

Wingo Boingo, dead Man's Party. Yeah, my bad. Leonard Cohen or Jeff Buckley Buckley.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 50:57

That one's more depressing. I was going to say Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright would be appropriate.

Matt Fox: 51:01

I don't know what you guys are thinking but yeah, but, as Jamie said, dj Weddings, you get flowers all day, you get the yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 51:09

But you bring home the flowers, my cat eats them and then yaks. So it's like oh yeah, and colleen loves her gardens, so, um, she's like you bring her flowers, she's why'd you kill those?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 51:20

flowers. She gets mad. She's like she wants them alive. So do you want to buy? I was gonna say, do you buy your seeds? Then just buy your seeds, yeah because that's how I am with with my garden that I have I give her seeds from time to time, you know the way to my girl's heart.

August Gitschlag: 51:31

I bet you do vegan cheese, and and I'm not kidding.

Jamie Flanagan: 51:38

She has some dietary concerns. Wait a minute.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 51:39

How did we segue from seed giving? To vegan cheese To vegan cheese, don't you grow that Things you like.

Jamie Flanagan: 51:48

No, I'm cut All right, she's shipped to shore, no shmegba.

Matt Fox: 51:56

That was not too soon, you went there. No, shmegba, that was not too soon, you went there.

August Gitschlag: 52:01

I thought we were playing pickleball over here.

Matt Fox: 52:04

You just won, dude, we were skirting illusion.

Jamie Flanagan: 52:12

So yeah, so flowers, that's another racket.

August Gitschlag: 52:16

It is a racket, but it's a great thing to not do on Valentine's Day. It's a wonderful non-Valentine's gift, yeah.

Jamie Flanagan: 52:23

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, just on a random day, Random day Random, day Random day, random day flowers.

August Gitschlag: 52:27

There's nothing better. I like them, everyone else likes them. Spruce is up the room a little bit. I was a single straight white guy who got flowers for himself. Every Sunday I had flowers, a fresh set of flowers, in the kitchen always.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 52:42

I didn't know that well, now I know what to bring next time I almost brought you guys flowers but I just wasn't sure if that was like a role reversal, like gender role reversal.

Jamie Flanagan: 52:53

I wouldn't mind if you brought flowers, that would be actually very sweet and very nice. I hate, no, giving people their flowers, though I hate that phrase.

August Gitschlag: 53:04

Oh, and also I'm not into roses.

Jamie Flanagan: 53:06

I hate that. Gotta give people their flowers. I like the color.

August Gitschlag: 53:10

I actually give somebody flowers. The beauty of the bouquet too, the way the colors are matched with the little green thingies that who knows where they come from that are always in there oh, it's all really well done.

Matt Fox: 53:20

Yeah, you have the baby's breath in there and all that's what it's called.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 53:24

Yes oh, look at, look at matt fox bringing out, bringing out the bringing out the baby.

August Gitschlag: 53:29

He's been dumped a lot in a lot of trouble, so he's got to buy a lot of flowers, make up for a lot of flowers.

Matt Fox: 53:32

I had to make up for a lot.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 53:34

So you know which ones last the longest.

Matt Fox: 53:38

I do. Tulips last a long time. You've got to find ones that have the bulbs that haven't quite blossomed yet. Oh yeah, you've got to shop.

August Gitschlag: 53:45

Especially when you go on the Meyer or Kroger, you've got to find the ones that haven't opened up yet. Yeah, that's always good.

Matt Fox: 53:58

It's always about Sunday flower shopping too, so you get them during for the whole week, get them on sundays and they get.

August Gitschlag: 54:00

They usually go till friday or saturday get them on tuesday and they last the following weekend trash nights on tuesday night. Yeah, yeah, that's right, that's a full flavor I went back I mean I am mad at the because we got a lot of really rich food here.

Jamie Flanagan: 54:09

The olive oil has got a lot of flavor to it I'm chocolate deep in my face right now.

August Gitschlag: 54:13

I really am.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 54:14

I only had one.

Jamie Flanagan: 54:16

Just making sure I heard that right.

August Gitschlag: 54:17

Cacao.

Matt Fox: 54:19

Did you say cacao?

August Gitschlag: 54:21

That's right, Cacao. Salty chocolate balls were in my mouth and now I want a full flavored wine to wash it down.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 54:29

Warsh it down, warsh it down.

August Gitschlag: 54:31

South African wine to wash it down. There you go by chocolate sweaty balls it's an upside down heart.

Matt Fox: 54:36

What do you think? Yeah, I was going to say Chocolate, salty balls Put that on the camera.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 54:40

We got to see that.

Jamie Flanagan: 54:42

Oh, that makes sense. That's a heart, yeah, that way, and that is turning cop.

August Gitschlag: 54:50

Nice work, Jamie.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 54:52

Good job, Jamie.

August Gitschlag: 54:54

You're supposed to be the straight man here.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 54:56

I'm proud of you. No it's because no, it's because jamie has been married for so long and then same, and then same with with me. I've been with my husband for so long. I like this a lot. Yeah, I know.

August Gitschlag: 55:07

Yeah, I don't not like the other ones, just there's so much more going on yeah, so what are you chocolate?

Jamie Flanagan: 55:13

where did you get it? Where can we find? Do you know where we can find that?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 55:15

Yeah, so you can actually Cantoro's in Plymouth carries this If you go to Find Wine Sourced in Livonia, you can ask them. I don't know if Jimmy has this on his shelf, but he'll order it in for you. Like I said, always go to the small wine shops.

Jamie Flanagan: 55:33

Yeah, yeah. That's why I went to see joe.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 55:38

Yeah go see joe at keiko's. Go to the name of it again uh, babylon store.

Jamie Flanagan: 55:40

And all right, we'll put all those things in the uh in the comments, especially the cacao.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 55:45

Yeah, the aikawa, that's good stuff, yeah yeah, did you know that they ferment? They ferment the beans so much like wine, which ferments, and that's what creates the alcohol. This is fermented, so the cacao seeds are actually fermented, wrapped in banana leaves, and then it's dried in the sun. So then it dries it out and then you crush it, and that's how you make chocolate, is that? Well, you mix the cacao bean with the mucilage, which is the. It's called the fruit, okay, of the cacao, like the, the actual um fruit okay and that's it.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 56:19

That's all that is. It's two ingredients. There's no sugar in that. That's great. Can you believe that?

Jamie Flanagan: 56:23

that's it's. It's astounding yeah I'm enjoying that with it, because I I'm a junkie for these caramels oh, I know, I know they're good. But I'm enjoying the cacao with the wine a lot more yeah I think honestly it's because this is this is fermented straight up.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 56:42

I love. The one thing I love about saunders and everybody loves it, I think in michigan is bumpy cake oh yeah, it's a, it's a standard.

August Gitschlag: 56:50

It's never been my thing, no, but it's been a big. It's always at every birthday party, you know so who ate the bumpy cake?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 56:56

bonbon that I brought.

Jamie Flanagan: 56:58

Oh did you eat it?

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 56:58

who ate it?

Jamie Flanagan: 56:59

I don't know, I forget. Yeah, you guys were like, oh, I don't remember, I took the bourbon one home.

August Gitschlag: 57:04

I know, I don't like chocolate, like I don't eat chocolate all the time like those saunders will get me in a mood. And then I'm like nope, give me some skittles, I need something sweet and red dye. Number four I need to see that back in my system.

Jamie Flanagan: 57:15

They're Twizzlers and.

Matt Fox: 57:16

Swedish Fish.

August Gitschlag: 57:20

Twizzlers are the worst. Twizzlers themselves taste like they're made out of plastic. How about Red Vine? Red Vines are bad, but they're awesome. But I am a dots and jujy fruit guy. Those are my movie candy of choice.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 57:34

I'll say what about Mike and Ikes, do you?

August Gitschlag: 57:36

like licorice stuff. I can do licorice. I can do Mike and Ikes Good Amish licorice. I can crush that stuff. But chocolate is every once in a while and then I'm like okay.

Jamie Flanagan: 57:45

And then when you get something delectable like this, that is different, though.

August Gitschlag: 57:48

That's different than a Snickers or a Payday or something like that, or even Hershey's Kisses. Those are disgusting to me. A Nestle bar is just not it for me. Hershey's Kisses, I think, are gross.

Jamie Flanagan: 57:58

So I'll do it.

August Gitschlag: 57:59

I'll have a jar of these at home and then after dinner I'll have one. How do you do one? It's like having one potato chip it doesn't work.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:06

Yeah, no, I do.

August Gitschlag: 58:09

You have four little bites of it. You're such a strong man, jamie. Yeah, and I'm so jealous. Yeah, you've got willpower. So jealous of your strength.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 58:13

Yeah, me and August are the sinners.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:15

And then I come home after the show and eat a 10.

August Gitschlag: 58:19

Yeah, yeah, Foom, foom, foom foom.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:20

I'm Cookie Monster of those bad boys.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 58:22

Bah, bah, bah bah bah, yeah, I gotta have my chocolate with wine.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:26

That's how I have my chocolate.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 58:34

I like potato chips with my wine.

August Gitschlag: 58:36

Champagne, there's like the saltiness.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 58:38

Sparkling wine with potato chips is the best, the best.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:44

I'm just always into potato chips, I put it on.

August Gitschlag: 58:48

When they say in a job interview do you have any weaknesses? I always say potato chips.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 58:52

Oh, I love it.

August Gitschlag: 58:54

Always, that's what I put down.

Jamie Flanagan: 58:57

Oh my God, I can't believe we've been here for an hour. Have we yeah, yeah, I could keep going.

August Gitschlag: 59:06

I know. So what do we decide for our alternative for Valentine's Day?

Matt Fox: 59:09

Oh yeah, we have plenty of ideas out there Long walks on the beach in the rain.

August Gitschlag: 59:14

And also, don't be afraid, we do have lots of beach.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 59:16

We do have lots of shoreline, and also, don't be afraid to not do it on Valentine's Day?

August Gitschlag: 59:21

Do what, whatever you want to do. Oh, the celebration, the celebration. So you have to know your partner. Every partner should know that Valentine's Day is a little crazy. Yeah, honey, let's do it on Tuesday and we can get it in your favorite restaurant instead of the next year.

Jamie Flanagan: 59:36

And linger and enjoy and have to wait forever for our food. And we can do it better. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love you less because it's the 13th or the 17th?

August Gitschlag: 59:45

Know your partner right.

Jamie Flanagan: 59:47

Honestly, you're asking a lot of me right now.

August Gitschlag: 59:51

I'm feeling attacked.

Jamie Flanagan: 59:56

Because he's listening. Colleen could give a razz patootie about the cards and the flowers and that, but just small gestures and doing things.

Matt Fox: 1:00:05

You do that the other 364 days of the year.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:00:10

Shouldn't care about the Hallmark thing or bringing the card.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:00:13

Yeah, no, just something small for me and then yeah, the other like Fox said you know, 364 days a year. You know, just go and do some cool stuff. Don't surprise me.

Matt Fox: 1:00:26

You know, my partner had a procedure last week and in the morning when they got home they had a sandwich made for them in the fridge next to some little snack, because they couldn't eat.

August Gitschlag: 1:00:36

I thought trump stopped the funding for all that yeah, but I still did it so not the sandwiches, oh, but yeah, it's just those little gestures, those little things like that. Yes, those are the things that you do that's how I learned about vegan cheese and how valuable that can be right, yeah, but you're right knowing what they, what they're going to appreciate, what's going to make them smile and make them be like, oh aw, you thought about me. You actually did think about me instead of just driving me home.

Matt Fox: 1:01:00

The night before I'd be eating ice cream in front of them, right chips.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:01:03

Yeah they can't eat Because you don't eat the vegan cheese, do you?

August Gitschlag: 1:01:08

It's fine.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:01:09

Oh yeah.

August Gitschlag: 1:01:10

I have no problem with it.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:01:11

It's called.

August Gitschlag: 1:01:12

Vita, that's just chemical cheese, just kidding.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:01:16

No, cause Logan will buy me stuff that he'll never he'll. He won't eat the cheeses are getting better.

August Gitschlag: 1:01:22

I played a little, a little Pepsi challenge with it. I'm going to do it again.

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:01:24

Yeah, I have some oat milk cheese at home from a health food store. And I'm I'm a little nervous, but tell me, tell me tell me Don't have Logan, not show you the label. Like just try stuff, just try stuff. So kind of like when I pour wine for people and I'm like here just drink this.

August Gitschlag: 1:01:46

Yeah, well, you're trying to get something over on them. They're just trying to prove to you that there's nothing different between the regular cheese and beef. And we're talking like sliced cheese for a sandwich, not like a charcuterie board. I haven't gotten that deep with it yet, you know. You know, plant-based Munster isn't exactly what we're looking at, but a cheddar or a provolone alternative. Those are out there and there's there's other. Some brands are better than others. Sure, I can get you a list. In fact, I'm sure my phone's gonna start buzzing minute now if she's listening. Yeah and uh, there's, there's been some. I wouldn't know the difference, especially on sandwich cheese, but charcuterie board cheese. I'm willing to take the pepsi challenge because I think I've had some good experiences so far okay, like a good tomato basil type yeah, I mean especially the ones they season a garlic and you know, and if you're mixing it up with some bread and some

Jamie Flanagan: 1:02:33

olive oil and it's all part of a big uh tasting party. One less processed thing in your system.

August Gitschlag: 1:02:38

I'm open to it. Yeah, okay, she's broken me down. That let's ratatouille this thing. Man, let's go. Yeah, yes, and with a nice processed ritz cracker you provide the cheese, I'll provide the ruffles.

Matt Fox: 1:02:53

The perspective Straight ruffles.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:02:58

You ratatouille'd me earlier I did.

August Gitschlag: 1:03:01

August Gitschlag: 1:03:51

They sponsor all my fundraisers in Hamshamrick, all the ones we do. They've done probably six in a row, now that they've been the title sponsor.

August Gitschlag: 1:05:07

Yeah, there was a big snake, it was a lights made it look like it was all lighting tricks.

Jamie Flanagan: 1:05:11

August Gitschlag: 1:05:21

Jamie Flanagan: 1:05:23

Mrs. Vino - Kristen Carlson: 1:05:28
